Travelling science exhibition Fascinating Science coming to libraries this summer
Kids, teens and families can experience a world of science with a new exhibition coming to libraries across Tasmania.
Fascinating Science is a free interactive exhibition that explores key scientific principles in a fun, hands-on way.
The exhibition by Questacon, the National Science and Technology Centre, will visit 18 libraries including Queenstown, Smithton, Devonport, Ulverstone, and Oatlands and Sorell.
“We are excited that Questacon’s Fascinating Science exhibition is visiting libraries across Tasmania this summer.
This exhibition means that children and families can interact with fun scientific exhibits from Questacon without travelling too far during the school holidays,” said Simon Jones,
Director Library Network, Libraries Tasmania.
Fascinating Science is a great way to dive into the world of science.

- Build a six-sided cube with seven pieces.
- Feel the force of powerful magnets.
- Thread a needle with one eye closed.
- Solve the ancient puzzle of the Tower of Brahma.
- See the world through coloured filters.

Think U Know what your kids are doing online?
ThinkUKnow Australia is a cyber safety education program that educates parents, carers, and teachers of how people are using technology, the challenges they may face online, and how to help them overcome these in a safe and ethical way.
This session will cover:
- What young people SEE, SAY and DO online.
- The challenges they may face.
- How to report and get help if things go wrong.
The presentation will be delivered by a local law enforcement member and an industry volunteer. The presentation covers issues relating to children and young peoples’ privacy and security online, their relationships with other users and their online reputation. It provides insight into the devices young people are using, as well as the popular websites, apps and social networking sites they’re accessing.
ThinkUKnow Australia is a partnership between the Australian Federal Police, Microsoft Australia, Datacom and the Commonwealth Bank. The program is delivered in collaboration with policing partners New South Wales Police Force, Northern Territory Police, Queensland Police, South Australia Police, Tasmania Police, Western Australia Police, as well as Neighbourhood Watch Australasia.
