5/6 CLASSROOM

The Swimming Carnival at Stanhope was a fantastic day, with great weather and full participation from all students. I was especially impressed by the senior students' positive attitude, encouragement, and sense of fun. Congratulations to Pippa and Heath for their impressive race wins! The final staff vs. student race was the closest I've seen in three years, with only a metre between the teams. Well done to the Year 6s for their fantastic team effort!

You should have received the letter from your student's KK recipient for this Advent season. It's great to see many already prepared with their $5 gifts, which will be handed out on the last day of term, Thursday, December 19th, 2024. Please remind your student this is about showing kindness to their KK person and embracing the Christmas spirit.

The students thoroughly enjoyed Brodie's participation in Archers Tag and Hero, which focused on skills like throwing, catching, dodging, running, following game rules, and practicing self-control (no talking during the game) this term. Next week will be Brodie's final class.

As you might have seen on Facebook, the Year 6 students once again demonstrated great leadership during the Graduation Mass. A big thank you to all the readers and participants in the Mass, especially Tannah, Meila, Ruby, Sophie, Mia, Vince, and Heath.

Transitions for 2025. The Year 6s are ready to move on to the next stage of their lives and have enjoyed their transitions to high school. The Year 5s are excited to begin their Year 6 journey with Mrs. Jamieson—how lucky are they!

This past Sunday marked the Second Week of Advent. This Friday, the school’s Advent Liturgy, led by Year 5/6, will take place at 3pm, before this will be the Specialist Showcase.

To celebrate the Year 6 Graduation, Mr. Ryan and I have organised a Big Day Out next Wednesday, December 18th, from the first break until the end of the day. We’ll meet with the students beforehand to plan the day’s activities. This will give the Yr 5’s something to look forward to.

Finally, in response to the Year 5/6s' curiosity, and with Mr. Ryan’s approval, my family will visit St. Mary’s on Monday.

As this is my last newsletter for St Mary’s School, I want to sincerely thank all the parents for your incredible support and kind words over the past three years. Teaching and learning is a collaborative effort, and without your assistance and involvement, we couldn’t have achieved such success for your students. Your partnership has made all the difference, and I truly appreciate everything you’ve done to help our students thrive during the time I've been here. I will miss the St Mary’s warm, friendly and honest community.

God Bless,

Mrs. Brockett
