Week 1 & 2 Updates
Welcome back everyone! I hope everyone is settling into their new routine and feeling excited for the year ahead. It’s wonderful to see so many bright, eager faces back in the classroom.
In Performing Arts, it’s already been a busy week and a bit as we begin preparations for Harmony Day. Students are having a great time learning some fun songs and dances that will be part of our whole-school performance. The energy and enthusiasm are already shining through, and I can’t wait to see them showcase their talents.
Welcome Preps and welcome back 1-6 students!

We will have a focus on Athletics across all year levels as well as badminton later in the term.

Year 5/6 students have interschool sports on Friday mornings. The event is on compass so that consent and payment for transport can be do for your child to attend. If you have any questions about times and locations please contact Vicky at the front office.
Regional Swimming
If you have a child who is a member of a swimming squad you may wish to nominate them for the Maribyrnong Division Swimming Sports on Tuesday March 11 at Oak Park Sports and Aquatic Centre, 563a Pascoe Vale Rd, Pascoe Vale. Your child is able to nominate for two individual events. You will need to be able to transport your child to and from the event. Please see Mr Dane for more information.
It's been a fantastic and busy start to the term! Our Prep students got creative by drawing themselves as LEGO minifigures to showcase their interests and passions. Meanwhile, our Grade 1 and 2 students put their engineering skills to the test by building LEGO marble mazes. Our Grade 5 and 6 students took on the role of mentors, creating engaging videos to introduce our STEM norms to the Prep students.
This term, we're diving into biological sciences, and I couldn’t be more excited! Check out some highlights from the week:
Hi, I’m Lauren the new Visual Arts Teacher,
I have been teaching at the same school for the last 13 years and have had experience in both specialist and classroom. This is my first year teaching at Sunshine Heights Primary. I’m so very excited to be a part of this amazing school and very much looking forward to meeting the community. If you see me around please come say hi!
In our art sessions this term we will be focusing on using a variety of materials, tools and techniques to communicate their ideas, future develop their understanding of the elements of art and learn about different art works that may inspire their own art making.
The beauty of our art classes is there is no wrong and no right there is just ART! which really allows students to “Sail into a universe of possibilities”
Looking forward to the year ahead!
Lauren Jamieson
