State Hooptime

CONGRATS - JUNIOR FS FORCE

With last Thursday’s Junior FS Force being our third and final team to attend their State tournament, there was certainly a lot of pre-hype and excitement for this day!  This team had played well over the previous two tournaments; not winning at Regionals, but had proven they were worthy of a State effort with their gallant efforts in their games.

With some brilliant guidance by Coach Matt Young, the team, after narrowly losing their first pool game, stepped up a notch, gave it their best and won their next two games, placing them 2nd in their pool. They then met Croydon Hills PS in the round of 24 play-offs and came away as convincing winners, 14-4.  Despite a grand effort their final round of 16 game was where their journey came to an end, losing this game and knocking them out of any further finals contention.

We congratulate these eighth players for making it through to States, in what it was for some, their first year of HoopTime!  A huge thankyou also goes to Matt Young for his time and efforts in helping coach the team over the tournaments this year, along with all of the parents that helped score and drive our players to the venues.  Special thanks also goes to Mrs Jo Fraser for her gallant team support on Thursday.    2024 HoopTime - oh what a year for SF it’s been!

It’s been a busy year of usage of our sports singlets!

We now ask that they are all washed and returned to school.

*please cold wash & air-dry prior to returning*

SPORT THANK YOU’S - 2024

This 2024 year will forever go down as one of the most jam-packed sports-event-filled years, with what felt like a constant, weekly sports-event calendar!  St. Finbar’s has always prided themselves on the AMAZING support they receive from our parents with sporting carnivals - and this year this has certainly been the case!

To every parent that helped out at one of our sporting events; we say a massive THANK YOU. From the House Athletics, House Cross Country, and House Swimming carnival, to the coaching, driving, and scoring during all of the HoopTime basketball tournaments, umpiring Cricket Blast, Winter Sport and Lightning Premiership tournaments umpiring your dedication has been invaluable. We are also so grateful for the amazing parental support with our AeroSchool Aerobics teams this year.

All of your time and efforts made a real difference to the students' success and enjoyment. Your enthusiasm, time, and effort have truly enriched the sporting experiences for all our students. We are so lucky to have such a wonderful and supportive school community—thank you!
