Congratulations to our graduating Class of 2024 students who have achieved some excellent VCE results. Our Year 12s this year have had their heads down and have been focused throughout 2024. They have studied, practised, drilled, and sought assistance when needed. Their academic bent and strong work ethic have led to some excellent results; as a school, we couldn’t be more proud of them. The Hamilton and Alexandra College’s 2024 Dux is College Captain Sarah Richardson, who received an ATAR of 97.8. Proxime Accessits are Hannah Croft and Charlie Mahar, who both scored ATARs of 95.9. Sarah continues in the family tradition, with her sister Katie being Dux of 2023. Other strong achievers include College Vice Captain Fay Harjanto, who achieved an exceptional study score of 48 in Art Making and Exhibiting and an ATAR of 94.25.
I wish all staff who are concluding their time at College every success and happiness in the future, and again, I give my thanks for their rich contributions. It is with some sadness that I need to add to that group by announcing that Eric Gong tendered his resignation last week. Eric has been a much-admired Chinese teacher in both Junior and Senior School and will be missed by his colleagues and students. Eric is relocating back to Melbourne to be closer to friends and family and he goes with our best wishes. We are currently speaking with a number of potential Chinese teachers and hope to have a confirmed appointee to announce shortly.
I wish all members of the College community a restful, joyous and safe Christmas and holiday period, and look forward to welcoming students back at the end of January next year.
