Secondary School

Newsletter Term 1 Week 2

I begin with a vote of thanks to families for your wonderful preparation in supporting your child to begin the school year. Starting the school year comes with some excitement, some nervousness and a general sense of anticipation. It doesn’t take too long before that anticipation of the unknown eases and our students are settled and engaging with their classes and peers. Thank you to our teaching staff for their preparation and support of our students to settle into the rhythm of learning.

We gave a special welcome to our Year 7 students and all new students, at our secondary assembly this week. We highlighted the opportunity for us all to feel ‘new’, and how this timely mindset frees us to reinvent our approaches, refresh our focus areas, and reestablish connections with peers, teachers and with being a learner. At the assembly, students were reminded of the range of people and teams within the school who are focused on supporting them to achieve their personal best in all its forms. A graphic representing a network of care was presented to show who collectively connects to truly know and notice each student, and how that fosters a student's sense of self-value and encourages them to thrive.

This year, our renewed Tutor role provides a further connection for our students, with each student's Tutor dedicated to knowing and noticing them, to establishing connections with parents and carers, and connecting and liaising with the various sections of the student's network of care. Your child’s Tutor is an important point of contact for you. In week 4 of this term, you will have the opportunity to meet and speak with your child’s Tutor at our Parent Information Sessions, the dates of which were recently published via an emailed letter.

I wish our staff and our families well for the school term ahead, and look forward to how we can connect to enrich the learning experiences for each of our young people here at Moama Anglican Grammar.

Kind Regards,

David Frazer

Student Success During Summer Break

Over the break, Chase travelled to Murray Bridge, South Australia, and competed in the Wakeboard Australia, Australian Opens in the Junior Men 14-19 category.

It is a two-day event, where he placed 1st on Saturday and 2nd on Sunday, which meant he drew with another competitor for the overall win. A great result and an amazing ride for Chase, definitely one of his best competition rides to date.

He is also traveling to NSW Windsor for the Australian Nationals in February and to Perth for the Action Sports Games in March.

Sadie Laffy (Year 8) and Sophie Millar (Year 7) recently represented the Goulburn Murray Cricket Association in the u/14 girls team which competed in the Northern Rivers Region Country Week in January.

Solid performances from both girls have earned them a spot on the Northern Rivers All-Stars U/14 girls' team. They will compete against the Mallee Murray Suns in Swan Hill this February.
