PE News:
School of the Good Shepherd Cross Country Success!
Congratulations to the 16 students who qualified for the Woodland Division Cross Country Championships and represented our school at the Kilmore Racing Club. Students competed in challenging cold and wet conditions, demonstrating outstanding determination, resilience and sportsmanship throughout the day.
Unfortunately, two of our qualified students were away on holiday and were unable to participate. However, the 14 students who raced proudly represented the Broadmeadows District and made the School of the Good Shepherd community and their families extremely proud.
A special congratulations goes to the following students who have now qualified for the Northern Metro Finals, which will be held later this month:
- Hanny – Grade 4
- Matilda L – Grade 5
- Maia P – Grade 5
- Ava V – Grade 6
Noah D – Grade 6
We are incredibly proud of their achievements and wish them all the very best in the next stage of competition.

Sustainability News:
Last week our year three students had a wonderful incursion presented by Melissa from the Hume City Council called ‘Birds of Hume.’ They learnt all about different species of birds in our community, habitats, diet, different bird calls, and using binoculars to find birds. They spent time outside looking for and learning about the birds that visit our school grounds.
Emma from CERES also visited our school last week. The year two’s and some of our senior students participated in a school biodiversity audit. We explored the school grounds looking for indigenous and exotic trees, shrubs, rocks, birds and different wildlife habitats throughout our school. This information will be used as a part of our Resource Smart School’s commitment.
Last term, our Eco Warriors attended the International Flower and Garden Show and in some very exciting news, they have since won a competition from their day out. Our school will be the lucky recipients of a colourful new gardening kit.
Students from years Prep to 6 have had the opportunity to revisit their knowledge in regards to recycling at home and school. A small change we can all make is ensuring we put our waste into the correct bin. We hope that this can make a positive difference in our classrooms, out on the yards and at home too.
If there is an item you are unsure of where to recycle or which bin it goes in the RECYCLE MATE website will have your answer!
