Catholic Identity

Last weekend, the Church celebrated the Feast of Corpus Christi, also known as the Feast of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. It was introduced as a special day to honour the gift of the Eucharist and to remind the faithful of Christ’s real presence with us.
The words Corpus Christi mean “Body of Christ.” At the heart of this celebration is the belief that Jesus continues to nourish and strengthen us through the Eucharist. Each time we gather for Mass, we are reminded that we are not simply individuals, but one community united in faith, love and service.
In a school community, this message is especially important. We see the presence of Christ in the way students look after one another, in the dedication of staff, in the support of families, and in the many quiet acts of love that happen each day.
As we continue through the year, may the Feast of Corpus Christi remind us to be people who bring Christ’s love into our homes, classrooms and wider community.
