Behaviour, Wellbeing & Safeguarding

Student Wellbeing & Safeguarding Day
Tomorrow - Friday 5th June, as part of a Diocesan school closure day, our staff will meet as a team to review our current student wellbeing and behaviour processes, and to look ahead to the new wellbeing curriculum being introduced across CESL schools.
Staff will engage in a review of our school’s ongoing work with the Victorian Child Safe Standards, including updates to the PROTECT framework, ensuring all students feel safe and supported at school.
We will also reflect on our school’s Behaviour Curriculum, which has now been in place for 12 months. This will include a review of the consistency of routines and practices, and planning for next steps to strengthen consistent expectations and positive classroom environments.
In addition, staff will be introduced to a new CESL program, the Positive Education Enhanced Curriculum, PEEC, which will form part of the broader CESL wellbeing curriculum. PEEC is a comprehensive, developmental wellbeing curriculum developed by the Institute of Positive Education.
We look forward to continuing this important work to support the learning, wellbeing and safety of all students.
Lunchtime Legends
Over the past few weeks, we have been gradually introducing our new Lunchtime Legends program, with this week marking the first time all activities have been up and running together. The response from students has been outstanding.
Lunchtime Legends is a student-led initiative, with our Grade 5/6 leaders running a range of activities at both recess and lunchtime to promote positive play, inclusion and student voice across the school.
Our weekly activities include Sandpit Squad on Mondays, where students can take part in creative sand play and student-led challenges, Games on the Grass on Wednesdays, which sees large groups of students joining organised games led by our student leaders. Both of these activities have been extremely popular, regularly attracting over 50 students.
On Fridays, we run our Reading Retreat, a quieter space set up on the grass with mats, stools and beanbags for students to relax and enjoy reading. Our student leaders have been sharing Big Books and picture story books with younger students, while many others are choosing to bring their own books and enjoy some calm reading time outdoors. This session has regularly seen more than 40 students for each session.
In addition, our Chill Zone operates every day at both recess and lunchtime. This provides a quiet, structured space where students can engage in activities such as construction, board games, colouring and other calm options, all supported by our student leaders.
It has been fantastic to see so many students actively involved, and we are incredibly proud of the leadership shown by our senior students in making these opportunities a success.
