Leonardo da Vinci
Students in Grades 3/4 and 5/6 have been learning about the great Italian genius Leonardo da Vinci. Through classroom activities, students discovered that Leonardo was not only a famous painter, but also an inventor, scientist, sculptor, and designer — truly an all-rounder ahead of his time. Students watched videos about Leonardo’s fascinating life and explored his most famous painting, the Mona Lisa. Inspired by his work, students created their own Leonardo and Mona Lisa portraits using a variety of artistic techniques. PHYSICAL EDUCATION
Our students have been working on developing their AFL fundamentals. We have been focusing on skills such as handballing, and incorporating these skills into modified games.
Students have also been learning techniques to keep themselves safe - for example, contesting ground balls in a fashion that protects their body from injury and minimises physical contact.
STEAM
Year 3/4
In Year 3/4, students have been using Paper Magiclay to develop their modelling skills by creating a map of the school. Students were able to go outside and draw the layout of the school and then transfer the information onto a flat canvas. They then used the Paper Magiclay on the canvas to create the layout of the school.
Year 1
In Year 1, students will be focusing on Print Making over the next few weeks. We will be using paints and it will be a little bit messy but a lot of fun. Students used different items as stamps to make different prints on paper.
Reminder - Art Smock
The students will be using paint over the next few weeks and your child will need an art smock or old Tshirt that will stay in the STEAM room. Thank you to those parents who have already brought in an art smock for your child.
