Deputy Principal

Dear Sacred Heart Community,
The motto of our school is 'The students are at the heart of everything we do'. I can proudly say that every teacher, every Learning Support Officer, everyone in Leadership and all ancillary staff believe in this. We go to the enth degree to understand every young person who walks through our gates every morning; their story, background, family situation, ethnicity, language, culture, faith, learning difficulties, etcetera is all taken into account when trying to ensure that every single child feels safe, connected and enthusiastic about learning at Sacred Heart.
First Nations people ask the same of them. To learn their story and to reconcile a new path forwards. This week, as part of Reconciliation Week, our F-6 students learnt more about the oldest living culture in the world. We met as a school community at our weekly Monday morning assembly to learn about the origins of Sorry Day and students were given an opportunity to decorate a native hibiscus, the symbol of the day we remember the story of the Stolen Generations.
Students also involved themselves in a quiz which was a lot of fun. Later in the week, our senior students were given the option of viewing a film highlighting the Stolen Generations, called 'Rabbit Proof Fence'. I'd like to give a big shout out to the students who wanted to learn more about our history and gave up their own time to watch the film.
Well done kids!
Have a great week everyone!
Regards,
Marty Fitzpatrick
