SAKG Report

Contributed by the 'Chunky Avocados' - Don and Harrison.

This week 'Go Bananas!' made Gnocchi with Butter and Sage sauce. Gnocchi is made with mashed potato, egg and flour. The 'Cracking Carrots' made Indian Flat Bread and 'Chunky Avocados' made Beetroot Raita, which was an awesome bright pink colour! The baby beets were grown by Year 7 student, Lila Schofield who gave us some to use in our kitchen class - Thanks Lila! From the garden we collected eggs and coriander.

Whilst we were eating, we voted for the best and we voted the Indian flat bread our favourite. Thank you to Don's Mum Rachel, for coming in and helping out!

Last week we made newspaper pots and planted mint in them to take home to our own gardens. We learnt that the pots could be planted straight into the ground as the newspaper will decompose along with the washi tape we used to stick the edges down. Washi tape is paper based so safe to use in the garden as opposed to plastic sticky tape.

In the garden we planted our silver beet and lettuce seedlings. We grew these from seeds that we planted in week 1 this term. We can't wait to be able to use them in our kitchen classes next term!

Down at the farm we collected a lot of eggs from the chooks and walked the goats, which was a lot of fun!
