2024 School Council
Dear Parents,
No doubt by now you have seen the sign on our fence congratulating the school for becoming a finalist in this year's Victorian Education Excellence Awards in the Outstanding School Improvement category. This is a wonderful achievement for our school, and testament to the hard work of the staff, students and community.
For those that have been at the school for some time you will know, and will have seen firsthand, why we are a finalist in this category. You will have seen the improvement in the way our school looks. If you have kept tabs on the newsletters you will have seen the remarkable improvement in student achievement, in student leadership and student voice. Your child may have been involved in one or more of our High Achievers programs or taken part in one of our positive mental health programs.
These are just some of the remarkable improvements that have occurred at Mackellar over the past few years that are visible to parents. Of course, there is so much more that occurs behind the scenes. The building of teacher capacity through ongoing professional learning. The work the staff do with individual families, students and professionals, not to mention the wonderful work of our council.
Of course, this work doesn't happen by chance. It has been led by the school's IDEAS School Management Team or ISMT, and I wanted to pay particular tribute to them. So on behalf of the entire school community, thank you to the members of the ISMT, and good luck with the upcoming announcement of winners. Regardless of the outcome, our school has been the beneficiary of such wonderful improvements, we are winners either way.
