From The Principal
Dear parents, families and friends,
We have come to the end of Term 3. It has been a very busy and productive 10 weeks.
On Sunday 8th September students from Year 3/4 celebrated their First Holy Communion. It was great to see the church full with family and friends in attendance to witness these students receive the gift of Jesus through Holy Communion. Having completed the next step of initiation into the Catholic Church, they can now participate more fully in the mass and therefore their faith.
The Eucharist is the central sacrament for our faith. The receiving of the Eucharist for the first time is one of the most important and beautiful moments in the lives of these children. It builds on the experience of First Reconciliation, deepening the relationship between them and Christ and allowing them to come to a deeper understanding of the love of Christ.
Through the Eucharist, Jesus is present with us in Body and Blood. This is the gift of Himself that He gave to the disciples at the Last Supper and continues to give to us today. In a unique and extraordinary way Jesus is able to be with us and dwell in us. He doesn’t remain in the tabernacle or on the altar but comes to reside in our hearts. Jesus can be no closer to us than being within us.
The Eucharist is also spiritual food, nourishment for our souls. Having Jesus with us provides us with strength as we journey through life, knowing that we are not alone and that Jesus walks ahead, beside and behind us.
We had two huge nights on Wednesday and Thursday with the school concert, A Night At The Oscars. The students put on an outstanding performance. 10 weeks of hard work from teachers, staff and students culminated in the best concert yet. From the moment we walked through the main entry to the hall, we were transported to the Sony Theatre in Hollywood. Every student gave 100%, with many putting on a show with their talents and really allowing their lights to shine. I cannot thank the teachers and staff enough for all the hard work they put in to make this night such a huge success. It was great to see so many parents and family members get into the spirit of the evening and dress up in their best evening wear. Please visit the Classroom and Curriculum page to view all the photos from the two nights of the concert.
We celebrated the end of the term with our Footy Colours Day and party pie and sausage roll lunch. I think we nearly all the AFL teams represented across the school, and some local footy clubs as well.
A reminder when we return in Term 4 it is compulsory for all students to wear their school sunhats when outside.
Congratulations to tipper "Ladyjaney" for winning our School Footy Tipping competition for 2024 with a score of 136! Congratulations to tipper "Ladyjaney" for winning our School Footy Tipping competition for 2024 with a score of 136!
