Levi in Laos!
Next Monday Levi Tucker is off to Laos on a unique trip with his family. He will help build a library in a remote Khmu village. The villiage is on the Nam Ou River which means he, and all the supplies, will be traveling by long boat to get there. He will be immersed in village life - learning weaving and fishing skills from the locals. The building project will be very hands on as he will take turns building and running English conversation lessons with the local children over several days.
Moving into Luang Prabang, he will be delivering educational and health supplies to rural schools where many of the children have never seen a foreigner before.
To end this big adventure, Levi will spend a few days at the Elephant Conservation Centre in Sayaboury. The centre has been established to rescue elephants from the logging industry and give them a safe place to rest and hopefully breed. Levi is looking forward to being part of the elephants' cognitive enrichment programs where he will prepare food to hide amongst the jungle enclosure for the elephants to find throughout the day. Levi will have lots of photos and stories to share when he returns.
The project is a Communities Against Poverty initiative run by Nic and Pam of E3 Global Adventures. - https://www.e3globaladventures.com.au
Enrichment Program
Year 7, 8 and 10 students will participate in our College Enrichment Program next Friday, 27 September. Students are able to select from a range of different enrichment activities. We offer both off-site and on-site activities. Some special activities have an additional charge because they involve visits to specific providers. There are also low-cost or free activities.
Bookings open tonight at 7:00pm through this link. All students will need to book for one of the activities. Please do so by Monday, 23 September.
Subject Selection 2025
The process of selecting subjects for 2025 has commenced. Today, parents of students in Year 7-9 should have received a 2025 Curriculum and Electives Handbook and information regarding the elective process.
This booklet has also been distributed to students through Schoolbox, with a link to the elective preferences form.
Step 1: Students will receive an initial email with a link to a form, asking them to nominate their preferred elective selections for 2025. Students will nominate subjects in order of preference. The College will use this information to determine elective lines. Students should consider their personal goals, rather than their friends’ selections.
Students will need to use the link provided to indicate their subject preferences. This form needs to be completed by Friday, 27 September.
Step 2: Using the information from gathered from students, we will develop subject lines. Parents/Carers will receive an email containing a link to the online selection form, with subjects organised into lines. Parents/Carers should discuss these with their child before submitting.
Step 3: Final elective classes will be advised prior to the end of the school year.
It is important to note that courses with a low uptake may not run.
If you require guidance or your son or daughter has questions, please contact the College to make a time to meet with a relevant member of staff.
