School Sports - What's Happening
HEALTH & PE WEEK – NEXT WEEK
Next week is Health & PE Week. As part of our Health & Physical Education curriculum we will be participating in additional sport and health activities throughout the week. Students are encouraged to wear their sports uniform every day. Some activities that will happen throughout the week include: Tennis Court Games, Skipping Club, Downball Competition, Staff v's Gr 6 AFL 9s Game and Futsal.
Further to this we will have a year level v's year level running club challenge every morning. We will calculate the year level that runs the most laps in total by the end of the week and hand out a prize. A big thank you to all our fantastic leaders in Grade 6 who help organise and run these activities.
GRADE 6 BASKETBALL CARNIVAL
On Friday, 6th of September 14 students in Grade 6 represented Holy Rosary in the Divisional Basketball Carnival at Red Energy Arena. There were close to 30 schools competing in each of the boys and girls sides of the draw. The girls had a fantastic day and won 2, drew 2 and lost 2 of their 6 games. It was great to see how much fun they were having together as a team. The boys excelled in their pool, winning all 6 of their 6 games and then making it to the final v Strathfieldsaye Primary. Unfortunately they lost this by a slim 2 points, just missing out on going through to the next level. The school is very proud of all students, the way they showed sportsmanship and represented Holy Rosary was exceptional. Thank you Mrs McConnell for helping on the day. A huge thank you goes out to Adam Torney and Matt Sawyer who took the day off work to help coach each of the teams. The kids loved having them as their coaches.
BENDIGO DRAGON MILE - TEAM WINNERS
A big congratulations to Preston, Maison, Jensen, Henry, Riley and Liam who won the Grade 5/6 Boys Team Award for the Bendigo Dragon Mile. In doing so the boys won a $100 voucher from Bicknell's that we could spend on sports equipment for the school. Thank you to Bicknell's for their award and well done boys on a super effort. Keep up the dedication and hard work to your running.
