A snapshot from the classrooms this fortnight

Kindergarten - Jacqueline Pribilovics

We have been so proud of Kindergarten this week!  Everyday they arrived at swimming lessons with a smile on their face. They tried their best and had so much fun. We are so impressed with how much they have all improved.

Year 1 - Danielle McClure and Eva Clinton

This past fortnight, Year 1 had a great time learning about letter writing! The students wrote letters to themselves and got to experience the excitement of posting them. They sealed their envelopes, added stamps, and learned all about what happens to a letter once it’s placed in the post box. Now that their letters have arrived, they’ve seen how the postal system works, from sorting at the mail centre to being delivered to their homes. It was a fun and hands-on way to learn, and everyone loved receiving their own letters!

Year 2 - Aoife Geraghty and Eva Clinton

This fortnight in Year Two we are going to shine a light on the amazing artists in our class that have been working with Ms. Traylen to design and make some beautiful artwork recently. It’s been a busy few days of creativity and exercise as the students have been busy!

Year 3 - Peter Mallos

Year 3 has been enjoying learning about Space during STEM this term! We have been learning about the connection between the Earth and the Sun.  Here are some of our findings!

“The Earth rotates on an axis”

“The sun is the centre of our solar system”

“The Earth take a year to rotate around the sun”

“When the light from the sun reflects off one side of the earth, then on the other side of the earth it’s night”

Year 4 - Bella Abruzzese

Year 4 has been busy learning about symmetry over the last two weeks. They have been practising reflecting, translating and rotating 2D shapes. Today, Year 4 created an unfinished tessellation pattern for another group. It was up to a different group to check out the pattern, and use their knowledge of symmetry to finish their tessellation patterns.

Stage 3 - Anna Kelly & Laura Courtenay

Year 5 has been using blocks to create 3D objects and sketch them from different angles to create a 2D sketch of the object.

Year 6 Student Spotlight

My name is Rosie. My happiest memories at STMM revolve around the sports carnivals, where I love running with my friends and progressing into zone and representing the school. My favourite sports are Nippers, Waterpolo and Athletics.

As a leader of StMM we have the responsibility of guiding and influencing the younger years, which I have really enjoyed. On a Wednesday I get the opportunity to teach my buddies, Lara and William.

One of the many highlights at STMM is hanging out with my closest friends. When I have my friends around me I feel comfortable to say anything I feel or what is happening in my life. I also count my teachers as my friends and enjoy conversations with them that are not only about education.

Since Kindy, there have been a lot of changes such as the playground which we have added new soccer goals, plants and painted fences to brighter colours. On our playground, we have one main beautiful Fig tree that is the centrepiece of our wonderful school. The branches of our oak tree represent the growth and the progression of our learning.
