Cultural Day
Every day Matters

Dear Parents, Staff, and Students,
Homestead Senior Secondary College is proud to be a vibrant, multicultural community, with students and staff representing more than 85 countries from around the world.
We are excited to announce that our annual Cultural Day celebration will take place on Friday, May 29th. This special event is an opportunity for our whole school community to come together and celebrate our rich diversity through cultural dress, performances, and food. On this day we offer both a shared lunch and a fund raiser bbq as things that Homesteaders can participate in on the day. This email is to outline both of these options to you.
The Shared Lunch
Food is a universal language, and we believe it’s a wonderful way to learn about and appreciate different cultures. As part of the day, we invite all staff and students to bring a cultural dish to share at our whole-school shared lunch. Dishes don’t need to be large—small sample-sized portions are just as welcome and appreciated!
Important Information for Dish Contributions:
If you would like to donate a dish, please complete this Google formto help us prepare for the event.
The Fundraiser BBQ
Homestead will also be running a BBQ on the day that will be offering items that will be sold $2 per item as a charity fundraiser. The profit raised by Homestead's BBQ will be split between:
Students should still bring some snacks or their lunch on the day to ensure they have enough food to fuel their bodies appropriately.
Our Cafe will be closed at lunchtime on that day but the Canteen will be available.

Cultural Day allows our students to be out of uniform however, it is not a casual dress day. We have created a Style Guide for this event that informs the parents and the students on what is permitted on the day. We really encourage all students to embrace the spirit of the day by getting involved.
Students who do choose to wear their school uniform need to wear it as per the daily standard.
