Year 10, 11 & 12

Assistant Principal's Report
As we start a new term, it has been great to see the continued focus, maturity and engagement from our Senior Years students across both academic and co-curricular areas. There is a strong sense of purpose building, with many students actively working towards their goals for the remainder of the semester and beyond.
Attendance Matters
A reminder that strong attendance remains one of the biggest contributors to success in Senior Years. Every lesson counts and being present and on time ensures students don’t miss valuable instruction, discussions, and assessment preparation.
ANZAC Day – Year 12 Wreath Laying
Our Year 12 student leaders led a respectful wreath-laying ceremony at school to commemorate ANZAC Day on the Friday before at school. This solemn moment provided an opportunity for our school community to pause, reflect, and honour the service and sacrifice of those who have served our country.
The ceremony was conducted with great dignity by our senior students, who represented the school with pride and maturity. It was a meaningful reminder of the importance of remembrance and the values of respect, service, and gratitude.
North Melbourne Football Club Visit
We were fortunate to recently host representatives from the North Melbourne Football Club, who delivered an engaging and interactive session with our Senior Years students. The visit included a Q&A session, where students were able to hear firsthand about the players’ journeys, training demands, and what it takes to perform at an elite level both on and off the field. This was followed by a kick-around session and opportunities for students to have merchandise signed.
The message from the players strongly reinforced the importance of resilience, discipline, teamwork, and balancing commitments—messages that are highly relevant to our senior students as they work through their own academic and future pathways.
Parent-Student-Teacher Conferences
Parent-Teacher Interviews were recently held and provided a valuable opportunity to strengthen the partnership between families and teachers. These conversations are an important part of working together to support student learning, wellbeing, and progress.
We sincerely thank families for their engagement and ongoing collaboration. Strong home–school partnerships are key to helping students achieve their best outcomes, and we appreciate the shared commitment to supporting every learner’s success.
Year 10 Parent Information Session
We would like to thank Year 10 families for attending the recent Parent Information Session. This session provided important guidance around subject selection for senior pathways, including VCE and VM options, as well as the decision-making process for 2026. It was a valuable opportunity for families to ask questions and support students in making informed choices about their future studies.
Year 12 Assembly Alumni Presentation
It was great to see our School Captains shine, again, during an alumni session. The school invited back two Alumni to speak at Year 12 Assembly- Mark Wilson Class of 1986 and Eve Paesler Class of 2022- The captains lead the session asking some great questions from themselves and facilitating with their cohort.
Upcoming Assessments
We are approaching a busy period of assessment across several subjects. Students are encouraged to plan ahead, use study schedules, and reach out to their teachers early if they need clarification or support. Exam week is very fast approaching, and more information will be sent out shortly.
Thank you to our students for their continued efforts, and to families for your ongoing support. Working together makes a real difference in helping our young people achieve their best.
As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the Senior Years team if you have any questions or concerns.

Year Level Leader's Report - Year 10
We hope term 2 has started well for everyone. This is a big term for Year 10s. Although it feels like they have only just started Year 10, this term is all about preparing for Year 11 and 12 and what they want to do after school.
Thank you to all who attended the parent information night and hopefully if you weren’t able to attend, you have had a chance to look through the presentation that was sent out.
The key headlines are:
If a student is interested in the Vocational Major course, they must have completed the online expression of interest and then collected and completed an endorsement form from the senior office. These must be in by the 20th May.
If a student is interested in a VET, they must have completed the expression of interest form and then come to the senior office to complete the VET enrolment proforma. Note: If the student is interested in a Vocational Major course, they MUST complete a VET.
Students wishing to complete VCEs will select 6 subjects and this will be completed by the end of week 2 of term 3.
To assist with all of this, students will complete their CAPS programme in their pastoral sessions and have a day of year 11 subjects at the start of term 3.
All students had the opportunity to attend Future Talk recently where we heard from a wide variety of careers from those working in AI to those working as a nurse with small children.
We hope students got the chance to ask questions and think about what career path they are interested in and how to get there.
Another reminder that work experience is coming up in the last week of term. Some students have not yet returned their forms and it is important that they return those as soon as possible.
Finally, students will have exams from the 1st to the 4th June, so it is an important term for all year 10s!
Should you or your student have any questions about any of these, please contact the year 10 team.

Year Level Leader's Report - Year 11
I hope everyone enjoyed a relaxing break and has returned feeling refreshed. Our Year 11 students have settled back into the term with focus and determination. They are now approaching the final stages of their Unit 1 coursework as they prepare for their upcoming exams. These exams are compulsory, and students will soon receive their personalised exam timetables. They are only required to attend school on the days and times listed on their timetable. In the meantime, please encourage your child to organise their notes, revise key concepts, and consolidate the learning they have completed this semester to ensure they are ready for their assessments.
If a student is absent during an exam, they must provide a medical certificate. Once this is submitted, they will be given the opportunity to complete the missed exam during the designated Exam Catch-Up period. These sessions must be arranged in advance with Mr. Walker or a member of the Senior Years Team.
For Year 11 students undertaking Year 12 subjects, the Year 12 exams take priority. Students must remain in the exam room until the scheduled finish time. Any questions or concerns can be directed to your child’s tutor teacher or Mr. Walker.
During our pastoral care program, students have begun exploring their future pathways within our CAPs program. They will be investigating careers that interest them and the various options available after completing their VCE.
Over the coming weeks, students will participate in the annual Attitudes to School Survey, provided by the Department of Education and Training. This survey helps schools understand students’ experiences and perceptions of their learning environment. At Wyndham Central College, student voice is central to improving engagement, wellbeing, and teaching practice. Survey results are reported only in group form to ensure individual students cannot be identified. All students from Years 7–12 will complete the survey during class time.
Recently, we have placed additional emphasis on uniform expectations, punctuality, and mobile phone guidelines. The Year 11 team sincerely appreciates the support families are providing at home to reinforce these expectations alongside the work being done at school.
If you have any questions, please contact your child’s tutor teacher or myself.

Attitudes to School Survey
Year 12 students at Wyndham Central College will participate in the annual Attitudes to School Survey, scheduled on May 13, 2026. This survey, facilitated by the Department of Education and Training, is a valuable tool for schools to gain insight into students' perceptions and experiences within the educational environment. At Wyndham Central College, we highly value the input of our students as it enables us to enhance student engagement, well-being, and the overall quality of instruction. The feedback collected from the survey will be instrumental in guiding our efforts to develop tailored programs and activities to improve our students' schooling experience. It is important to note that participation in the survey is mandatory for all Year 7 to 12 students during regular school hours. We assure you that all survey data provided in subsequent reports will be aggregated, ensuring the anonymity of individual students.
Examination
As the Year 12 examination period swiftly approaches, we wish to inform you that examinations will be conducted between May 28 and June 4, 2026. Each student will be required to undertake an exam for every subject they have pursued during semester one. Please note that these exams are compulsory. In the forthcoming weeks, students will receive an exam timetable. It is imperative for students to be present at school only when they have an exam scheduled. In the interim, we encourage you to support your child in organizing their knowledge, notes, and resources accumulated throughout the semester to facilitate effective preparation for the upcoming exams.
In line with VCAA final examination expectations, students who are absent on the day of the exam will not be permitted to reschedule the exam for another time. This includes absences due to medical reasons.
For Year 11 students enrolled in Year 12 subjects, attending the Year 12 examinations takes priority.
Students who have timetabling clashes with other subjects will be given the opportunity to reschedule their missed exam during one of the exam days. This must be arranged in advance with the relevant Year Level Leader and subject teacher.
Students are not permitted to leave the examination hall before the allocated time. Any concerns or queries regarding the examination process should be directed to your assigned tutor teacher or Year Level Leader.
General Achievement Test (GAT)
Test Date: Tuesday 16/06/26
Students who are enrolled in one or more VCE or scored VCE VET Unit 3–4 sequence are expected to complete Sections A and B of the GAT.
Students who are only enrolled in one or more VCE VM Unit 3–4 sequence are expected to complete Section A only.
The GAT plays an important role in ensuring the accuracy and fairness of VCE external assessments and school-based assessments. Additionally, GAT results may be used to calculate Derived Examination Scores if required and will appear on students' official transcripts issued by the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA).
To acknowledge student’s effort and commitment, students will be rewarded with a pizza lunch and drinks during the test.
VCE/VM Minimum Requirements and School Expectations
To be awarded a VCE certificate, students must successfully complete a minimum of 16 units, including 3 units from the Literacy/English units, which must include a Unit 3 and 4 sequence, and at least 3 other sequences of Unit 3 and 4 studies.
Students are expected to attend school every day, except in cases of illness. It is important to plan holidays during term breaks to minimize disruption to learning. A high level of attendance is essential for teachers to authenticate students' work. A recommended attendance rate of 95% is encouraged.
As VCE students, it is expected that they dedicate an average of 3 hours per night to study in order to successfully complete their VCE. This study time can be reduced if students use class time effectively.
If a student receives a Notice of Concern or Failed Outcomes, or a Report indicating an N (Not Satisfactory) grade, it is important to engage in discussions with your child, the subject teacher, and tutors to develop strategies that will support the student in achieving an S (Satisfactory) grade.
School-Assessed Coursework (SACs) and Absences
Students may be permitted to reschedule an assessment task if they are absent due to medical reasons or a school-approved activity. A medical certificate will be required to receive a score for the assessment.
- Students who are absent for non-approved reasons may be given the opportunity to submit redemption work in consultation with the subject teacher. However, they will not receive a score, only an S (Satisfactory) or N (Not Satisfactory) grade.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s tutor teacher or myself. Thank you for your ongoing support in ensuring the success of our students.
