Year 7

Ashley Rowe - Assistant Principal - Year 7

As we move through the start of term 2, it has been wonderful to see our Year 7 students settling confidently back into routines and embracing the opportunities that the new term brings. The transition into secondary school continues to progress positively, and students are becoming increasingly independent, organised and connected within our school community.

This term has already been a busy one, with students engaging enthusiastically in their classes, co-curricular activities and wellbeing programs. Teachers have noted the positive attitude many students are bringing to their learning, particularly in the areas of classroom participation, collaboration and willingness to seek feedback to improve.

A key focus for Year 7 students this term is developing strong learning habits. We encourage all students to continue using their planners effectively, managing homework deadlines and arriving to class prepared and ready to learn. Establishing these routines early is essential in supporting long-term success throughout secondary school.

It has also been pleasing to see strong participation in extracurricular opportunities, including sport, clubs and the upcoming cross country. Getting involved beyond the classroom is a fantastic way for students to build confidence, friendships and a sense of belonging within the school community.

As the weather becomes colder, we remind families to ensure students are wearing the correct winter uniform. If students need assistance with uniform, they can speak to staff in the Middle Sub School.

Regular attendance and punctuality also remain important, as every lesson contributes to student learning and growth.

I would like to thank our Year 7 families for their ongoing support and partnership. The transition to secondary school is a significant milestone, and the collaboration between home and school plays a vital role in helping students thrive.

We look forward to a positive and productive term.

Year Level Leader's Report - Year 7

This term the Year 7's have been learning about their future and Careers Action Planning. As part of the Careers Action Planning, the Year 7's have had the opportunity to attend the Wyndham Tech School to learn about the Future of Work with a Future of Energy focus. The students had the opportunity to learn new skills such as Virtual Reality, Computer programming, and Engineering. The staff at Wyndham Tech School wanted me to congratulate the Year 7s as they were curious and had lots of enthusiasm which made working with them a delight.

The students will continue to build on this learning through their participation in the Year 7 and 8 Careers Day. The Careers Day focuses on students learning about possible careers that may interest them. On the day, the Year 7's will meet some of our Alumni who will talk about their jobs and how they got there.
