Principal's Report

Dear school community,
Students have had a positive start to Term 2. Learning has continued smoothly from last term, and our students are settled and focused in their classrooms. We appreciate the partnership with our families in supporting your child’s learning. Please remember to read the weekly emails from your child’s teacher as these provide the most current and up-to-date information about class activities, reminders, and school news.
Arriving On Time for School
It is important for all students to arrive at school on time so learning can start smoothly and everyone can participate fully. Please make sure your child is at school by 9:30am at the latest. Supervision begins at 9:00am, so you are welcome to drop your child off any time between 9:00 and 9:30am.
School Uniforms
Please continue to send your child to school in the correct school uniform from Monday to Thursday. In particular, ensure that long pants, tights, jumpers, and jackets are school uniform items. Colourful clothing and accessories are welcome on Fridays for our mufti day but should be kept for that day only. Wearing the correct uniform helps students feel proud and part of our school community.
Parent Information Session: Reading
Our first parent information session for this term focused on Reading. It was highly successful, with many parents attending. The session provided valuable information about how we teach reading at school and ways to support your child’s reading at home.
In response to parent feedback, the school has made a significant investment in new home readers to further support your child’s progress. Following a recent parent survey, we will run this session again soon, so if you missed it, you’ll have another opportunity to attend. We are also planning our next session, and more information will be provided shortly.
Parent-Teacher Interviews and Student Reports
Student reports will be sent home at the end of this term. Parent-teacher interviews will be held in Week 11 to discuss your child’s progress. There are morning and afternoon sessions available, with extended interview times on Wednesday afternoon to accommodate family needs.
Bookings for interviews will be managed via School Bytes and will open shortly. Parents will receive notifications by email and through School Bytes when bookings are available.
We encourage all parents and carers to attend these meetings as they provide a valuable opportunity to discuss your child’s learning, celebrate achievements, and plan for future goals.
Teacher Professional Learning
This term, our teacher professional learning sessions have focused on explicit teaching strategies. We are implementing “bump it up walls” in classrooms, beginning with writing and expanding to mathematics. These visual learning walls help students understand learning goals and steps to improve their work.
We have also held sessions on inclusive education practices, reinforcing our commitment to tailoring learning to meet the individual needs of all students. This helps ensure every child receives the support they need to thrive.
Staying Healthy This Winter
With the colder months ahead, we all need to do our part to keep the school clean and healthy and minimise the spread of illness. We strongly encourage regular handwashing at school and provide teachers with sanitising wipes to keep classrooms and learning spaces clean and fresh.
Please dress your child appropriately for the weather. If your child is showing flu symptoms, please keep them home until they are well. If your child has a cough or other symptoms but is not contagious, please supply a doctor’s certificate stating they can attend school.
Any communication from the school about symptoms or sickness is aimed at helping stop the spread of illness. We rely on written information from health professionals.
School Car Park Safety and Rules
We are seeing some issues in the school car park, especially with drivers blocking other cars in. Please remember, use of the school car park is a privilege offered to make drop-off and pick-up easier. It is essential that everyone follows the rules to keep our community safe:
- Drive at 10km/h in the car park at all times.
- Reverse park your car in all parking spots.
- A maximum of three cars may park down the centre of the car park.
- Please do not park other cars in or block access for others.
- If the car park is full, please park on the road.
- Children must always hold an adult’s hand when walking through the car park and never be left unsupervised.
- Please be responsible and courteous to others at all times.
Your cooperation helps keep everyone safe and ensures the car park remains accessible for everyone.
Thank you for your ongoing support as we work together to create a safe, welcoming, and successful school community for all children.
Kind regards,
Bryce Hageman
