From the Principal

Welcome back to the new term,

Like always we have hit the ground running with excursions and sporting events and we look forward to seeing everyone at the Cross Country and Colour Run this Friday. Please remember that it is a school event and as such school rules apply for students and spectators.

A massive thank you to the families and staff who attended the ANZAC services both at school and in the wider community. We have had lovely feedback from many people about the respect shown and again, it shines a light on what a great school ACS is.

While attendance is great for most of our students, we are seeing some patterns of non- attendance with some. Letters will be going out early next week for students who have attendance causing concern already this term. We know that days and lessons missed impact students both socially and academically. Thank you to everyone who keeps us informed of illness and family emergencies.

Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG) update

As a community there was quite a bit of work to try and establish a Mirrool AECG, it was not able to be sustained. We have been welcomed into the Griffith AECG which is brilliant. There is an invite for the next meeting on Thursday 7th May, we will be attending via TEAMS. If you would like to join me in the library for this meeting, please let me know. It starts at 2pm.

Lunch passes

Please remind your children that they are only to go the to places that have been agreed between you and school. Students are always welcome to stay at school and I know there are some who are choosing this option more often than not.

Energy drinks

There has been an increase in the number of high school students who are coming into school either before school or back from their lunch break with Energy Drinks and Coca-Cola. They are not the best for having students settle back into quiet learning and we are asking for you to speak to your children and recommend other options.

Riverina Dance

Our secondary dance group were unsuccessful in their application for Riverina Dance this time, but I want to commend them on the work that was put into the audition. Working with Julie, they demonstrated bravery, commitment and determination as they put themselves out there. Congratulations to the group for their attempt.

See you all tomorrow.
