Mother’s Day Celebration – Friday 8 May

As Mother’s Day approaches, we look forward to honouring the wonderful mothers,

grandmothers, and mother‑figures who bless our community with their love, strength, and generosity. This special day is an opportunity for us to come together in gratitude for the women who guide, nurture, and inspire our children each day.

We warmly invite all families to join us on Friday, 8 May for our Mother’s Day celebration.

8:00am – Mother’s Day Breakfast

We begin the morning with a shared breakfast in the school grounds. This is a beautiful chance for families to gather, enjoy time together, and celebrate the incredible women in our lives. We encourage all mums, grandmothers, and carers to come along and allow us to thank you for all you do.

8:50am – Mother’s Day Prayer Service (K–2)

Following breakfast, our Kindergarten, Year 1, and Year 2 students will lead a heartfelt prayer service in honour of Mother’s Day. Through prayer, song, and reflection, our youngest learners will help us celebrate the gift of motherhood and the love that shapes our families and our school community.

We hope you can join us for this special morning as we celebrate, pray, and give thanks together.

Mothers day Stall :

Our Mother’s Day Stall, proudly led by our Friends of Francis, will be open from 9:30am to 11:00am on Friday. Students will have the opportunity to purchase a small gift for their mum, grandmother, or a special mother‑figure in their lives.

Please ensure your child brings money on the day so they can choose something meaningful to take home.

We thank our Friends of Francis for their time, generosity, and organisation in supporting this much‑loved tradition.

May – Marian Month

As we enter the month of May, the Church invites us to turn our hearts toward Mary, the Mother of Jesus, who continues to guide, protect, and intercede for us. The tradition of dedicating May to Mary dates back to the 17th century and remains a cherished part of our Catholic identity today.

At the foot of the Cross, Jesus entrusted Mary to all His disciples. From that moment, she became a mother to every believer walking with us, praying for us, and drawing us closer to her Son. Throughout May, Catholics around the world honour Mary in a special way, recognising her role in God’s plan of salvation and her ongoing care for the Church.

How We Honour Mary During May

Across the Church, families, schools, and parishes celebrate Mary through simple yet

 meaningful acts of devotion:

  • Praying the Rosary: a powerful prayer that helps us reflect on the life of Jesus through Mary’s eyes.
  • May Crownings: placing a crown of flowers on a statue of Mary as a sign of love, beauty, and reverence.
  • Prayer Corners at Home: creating a small sacred space with a candle, flowers, or an image of Mary to encourage family prayer.
  • Acts of Kindness: living out Mary’s example of humility, generosity, and trust in God.

Mary, Mother of All

During this month, we remember that Mary is not only the mother of Jesus but the mother of each one of us. She stands beside us in moments of joy and in times of challenge, offering comfort, protection, and hope. Her life reminds us what it means to say “yes” to God with courage and faith.

As a school community, may we allow Mary’s gentleness and strength to shape our hearts. Let us turn to her often in prayer, asking her to guide our families, our students, and our staff as we continue to grow in faith and love.

Class Masses for Term 2

As a faith-filled school community, gathering for Mass is one of the most meaningful ways we come together to pray, reflect, and celebrate God’s presence in our lives. Throughout this term, each stage will have the opportunity to participate in a Class Mass, and we warmly invite all parents and families to join us.

These celebrations are a beautiful way to support your child’s faith journey and to pray alongside them as a community.

Upcoming Class Masses:

Kindergarten & Year 6

  • Friday, 22 May

Year 2, Year 3 & Year 4

  • Friday, 5 June

Year 1 & Year 5

  • Friday, 19 June

Each Mass will take place in our parish church commencing at 9:15am.

We look forward to welcoming you and sharing these sacred moments together as we continue to nurture the spiritual life of our students.

“Where two or three gather in my name, I am there among them.” – Matthew 18:20

God bless you.
