BENDIGO SOCCER TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS
On the weekend of 23 and 24 March, five St Joseph's College students travelled to Bendigo to play representative soccer for Sunraysia.
Lee-Min Sheehan, George Miller, Angus Breeze, Harry Stanger, and Johan Siju played in the Under 14 Boys team who won the championship cup.
The boys played four games, winning three to place second on the ladder, then beat South Western Vic Football Association in the Semi Final, and then Williams Landing Football Club in the Grand Final.
The games were close and hard-won. Every one of these boys showed talent, persistence, and calm under pressure when achieving their goal.

JUNIOR GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
On Tuesday, 30 April the Junior Girls participated in the regional championships for volleyball. Interestingly, the girls only had one game scheduled, with Weeroona College. The game was likened to a grand final and with everything all coming down to one match, the girls knew it was their moment to shine.
Although they had a strong start, our girl’s lost their first set. However, not to let this deter them, they dug deep and attacked the next set with hard, strong serves and spikes. Second efforts gave us the advantage and the girls secured the second set. It all came down the third set. With the first team to 10 points to win, the girls held steady and came away with the win.
Steady nerves and amazing serves by Poppy Wilkes and Tiarna De Maria helped the girls gain vital points, and they were backed up by the likes of experienced player Bailey Gourlay, and players Rose Dichiera and Evie Cleary. It was a fantastic day. The girl’s made the college proud and were inspiring. Now their eyes lie on State Championships to be held at a later date.
