FREE HEART HEALTH CHECKS

Heart Week 2024 was about encouraging everyone to get a heart health check. The Heart Foundation is encouraging Australians to never miss a beat and start a conversation with their health professional about the positive steps they can take to reduce their heart disease risk.

During May you can access a FREE, quick, and non-invasive heart health check at a number of locations around Mildura thanks to the Shane Warne Legacy, Novartis, SISU Health Group and Anne Webster MP.

The Heart Health Checks kick off this Friday 17 May, at the Mildura Field Days.

The tests are free, quick, non-invasive, and no appointment is necessary. They will be happening in Mildura from 17 May until 30 May on various dates and locations. So, if you can't make it to the Mildura Field Days this weekend, you can find a day and time convenient to you by clicking on the link below.

CARPENTERS CLASSIC CONCERT 2024

On Thursday 2 May, St Joseph’s College students and staff continued the celebration of St Joseph the Worker with the annual Carpenters Classic Concert at the conclusion of our Cross Country Carnival and Feast Day Stalls.

Auditions and preparation for this concert took place during the last month, with the culmination of a showcase of student and staff talents. Acts included music and dance items, ranging from vocal solos to band and dance performances presented by various artists across all year levels. The concert concluded with House-based dances and finally a Year 12 dance act. The acts were critiqued and scored by four judges with close results.

FINAL RESULTS

2nd Place – Mabel Morrison (vocal/piano solo)

Equal 3rd Place – Freya McClaer (vocal solo), Olivia Ede (dance solo – unpictured),                            Brandon Blake (vocal solo).

Congratulations to all students and staff involved in the Carpenters Classic Concert for 2024. You all did a fantastic job, and it was great to see the whole school support and encourage our performers.

A great way to conclude our Feast Day Celebrations.

2024 ST JOSEPH’S COLLEGE BALL

All Year 9–12 students are invited to attend the 64th Annual St Joseph’s College Ball on Friday 31 May at Club DaVinci.

This year's theme is ‘Enchanted Forest’ – imagine spending an evening in a whimsical realm where magic and fairy tales come to life...

Entry to Club DaVinci will be from the service road off Deakin Avenue just past the Fifteenth Street roundabout. Doors will open at 7:15pm. The Ball commences at 7:30pm and concludes at 10:30pm. Doors will close at 8:00pm sharp, and there will be no late entry granted to students.

We ask that parents make arrangements to pick up students from 10:15pm and not earlier. For safety reasons, students will not be permitted to leave the venue during the course of the evening. Furthermore, in the interest of safety and traffic management, entry to Club DaVinci for drop-off and pick-up will be closely monitored. One-way traffic movement will be managed as per road rules.

The College Ball is a formal style dance. As such, certain standards of formal dress and appropriate behaviour apply. This is an alcohol- and drug-free event. Any students suspected of being under the influence will be set aside and parents will be contacted as required. Security personnel will be employed on the night to assist staff with supervision.

Students, please take particular note of the following:

  • FORMAL ATTIRE will be strictly enforced. Boys – smart pants, shirt with collar, tie & jacket (optional). Girls – modest evening wear.
  • Behaviour and conduct should reflect the college's values as they would on any given school day.
  • Wearing casual/sport footwear is not acceptable.
  • Supper will be provided on the night as part of the ticket cost.
  • Bottled Water and cans of soft drinks will be sold on the night. There will also be free iced-water available.

Tickets are on sale from College Reception from Monday 13 May at recess and lunchtime as well as before and after school until 3:45pm. The cost is $25.00 for single student tickets and $40.00 for family tickets (two or more students who are siblings). Ticket sales close on Thursday 23 May.

We encourage all students to attend with a positive attitude and to expect the unexpected. Get ready for a memorable, magical night of dancing and fun!
