Lions Update

We congratulate Amaeh Reed who participated in the Lions Youth of the Year Zone Finals last week. Amaeh held herself with poise and utilised her impressive communication skills throughout the interview stages and public speaking section of the competition.

Excitingly, Amaeh walked away with the Public Speaking Award and only narrowly missed out on the overall win. Up against a group of Year 12s from schools around Brisbane, Amaeh stood out as the only Year 11 entrant and we are sure she will be back next year for Round 2.  We are incredibly proud of Amaeh and the drive that she has to represent herself, our school and the local community – which she does so well.

MUN at Mt A

Last week, we held the first MUN at MtA, a culmination of engaged students who are interested in the world and want to be challenged to see themselves as part of a global community. Students set up alliances, diplomatically gave their cases and voted on how the UN would deal with the possibility of an alien invasion on earth.

While bribery is not condoned by the UN, there were certainly a few pieces of propaganda going around (including French lollies, UK bookmarks and Chinese flags). Our students’ approach to the event was impressive and we can't wait to see what our Term 2 event has to offer. Congratulations to all these students for their initiative and desire to learn!

DEBATING

Triple the victory, triple the passion!🏆Mt A Debating ended the term on a high with a debating hat-trick! 11.1, 9.1 and 9.2 all won their Round 2 debates as a result of their dedication, competence and speaking skills. bring on Round 3!
