Wellbeing Dog Trial

Hillsmeade Primary School is committed to supporting the positive mental health and wellbeing of all students and we are investigating the possibility of welcoming a Wellbeing Dog to assist with this. On Tuesday 23rd April, we welcomed a new wellbeing recruit, Yoshi the fluffy Labradoodle, on a trial basis. Yoshi may spend days with us on multiple occasions. We want Yoshi to:

  • Become familiar with the space
  • Meet staff
  • Meet students who are comfortable with dogs
  • Begin to provide supervised, controlled comfort and support to our students who are experiencing high levels of distress
  • Facilitate the development of therapeutic relationships within the school

Yoshi will always have an adult supervisor and if you or your child is not interested in spending time with him, that is absolutely fine.

Please email the school if you have any significant concerns regarding Yoshi’s visits.
