In the midst of rehearsals for Brunswick Secondary College's production of The Addams Family: The Musical, the show is really coming together.
Everyone is busily learning music, choreography and blocking, building sets and props, and bringing the show to life.
The cast and crew are working tirelessly to make sure they know every line, note, and movement. With each rehearsal, the show gets tighter and better, and each person on stage starts to get a sense of who their characters really are. The show is hilarious, and we have student dance captains assisting with the choreography for the first time in a whole school production. The creative process is abound as we look towards rehearsing both days of this weekend.
Amidst the hard work, there's a lot of laughter and joy. The jokes and remind us why we love theatre. We share ideas, offer feedback, and celebrate small victories together.
Being in the thick of rehearsals, it’s exciting to see our hard work start to pay off. Scenes are flowing more smoothly, songs are becoming more powerful, and our characters are taking on lives of their own. The magic of The Addams Family: The Musical is beginning to shine through, and we can't wait to share it with our audience. We’d love for you to come and see the show!
Keep an eye on the school website for tickets to become available – which will be soon!

Learning the dances and songs in the Addams Family show has been a lot of fun. We have learned so many different dance techniques and moves, as well as lots of songs too. We have had workshops on different types of acting skills and worked a lot on showing our individual characters personalities. A lot of effort goes towards all of this and it really pays off when you see it all together!

I enjoy being in the school production because you can meet new people that share a common interest. It’s a great opportunity to speak to people you don’t know and try something new.
It can be challenging when the rehearsals overlap with something else especially on the weekend rehearsals that take up the whole day but the energy that everyone puts into it makes it all worthwhile.
Everyone is really nice, including the teachers and dance captains. Everyone sort of gets along and pays attention because we chose to be here and a lot of people know each other from past productions.
I think the school production is a great experience and opportunity to meet new people and have some fun, I would recommend it for anyone who likes singing and dancing and has free time to practice.
