Clyde North Campus News

We are already starting to think about the coming term holidays as we enter weeks eight and nine.  First term has been incredibly productive as the new classroom routines led to positive and effective learning structures and habits. I congratulate students for their work this term and especially there dedication to embracing ROCKS, our school wide expectations as our way of doing things at St Peter’s College.

ROCKS were certainly front and centre for our wonderful Harmony Day celebrations. The Piazza was alive, awash in brilliant colour emanating from the beautiful cultural dress worn by so many students. The richest of our diverse community is truly a blessing and Harmony Day is a great reminder and celebration of this diversity. The annual theme of Harmony Day is ‘everyone belongs’ which aligns so well with this year’s annual theme, because when we do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly, everyone truly belongs.

It was a tremendous day, packed with great activities including, guest speaker Olympic athlete Peter Bol, cultural entertainment from a record number of students performing dance, and song, scrumptious food prepared by the VCE VM students, and of course the annual staff vs senior students basketball match which saw the students easily dominate for the win. My congratulations to Gemma and Sunveer who were the winners of our now annual Peter Bol 800m Harmony Day race. Peter was thrilled to watch the event and present the winning medals.

A huge thank you to all of the staff and students who have worked so hard all term to ensure that the day was successful, fun, and above a celebration of our community.

Michael Carr-Gregg’s quote below, beautifully sums up the joy of diverse communities and reminds us that we do not need just one day or one week to celebrate our rich multicultural community as we can embrace the joy that inclusion brings every day.

Like most to this term, the final week is going to be busy with both exciting and reflective activities as listed below.

  • Monday 25th March the Swimming Carnival previously postponed will take place. Students need to ensure they are SunSmart, with sunscreen, water, hat, and sunglasses. A reminder that no phones are to be taken to the carnival as per our normal school rules apply.
  • Wednesday 27th March is the 2024 Discovery Evening (6pm-9pm), where we showcase our wonderful school and all it has to offer to prospective year 5 families. Many of our students have the critical roles of tour guides and Learning Area Ambassadors.
  • Thursday 28th March, we finish the term with Stations of the Cross being performed by the youth ministry classes and a final House Assembly. Please remember that students finish at lunch time and as such there will be no Tasty Truck. Buses are booked for the early departure.

Please enjoy the photographs taken on Harmony Day 2024.

I wish you all the blessings of Easter. Have a wonderful holiday.
