Kitchen

Great to see the Kitchen & Garden in full swing again.

The Preps had their first sessions over the past 2 weeks and enjoyed getting to know the routines of the inside and outside space.

We have soooo many tomatoes in the graden that of course, we continued cooking with them. Tomato Bruschetta (or roast tomato bruschetta) was a hit with the children! Some classes made zucchini bruschetta too... using sage or lemon juice as an extra flavour.

Flower & Garden Show

The Grade 6 Susutainability leaders enjoyed a day at the International Melbourne Flower & Garden show yesterday. MacKenzie, Grace, Eric and Digby visited the Victorian schools garden displays and partciipated in planting and investigating insects too. They saw the 'Students Landscape designs',  met a giant stick insect and saw the indoor flower displays too. Collectors corner was their favourite indoor display that included moving dinosaurs, interesting succulents and beautiful crytals. The group loved seeing the beautiful building (Royal exhibition building) that the displays were in.

Eric found one very special competition entry... a hanging basket created by his Mum. We were so thrilled to find it in the show. Well done Marianna!

In the lead up to Easter, the classes made some delicious Hot Cross Buns today! Recipe is be;low if you want to make some at home yourselves!

Parent Volunteers

If you would like to volunteer in the Kitchen & Garden program, please send an email to your class teacher who will then let us know your availability. Parents will be assigned to work alongside their child in either the kitchen or garden unless otherwise requested.
