Sustainability Leaders - Taking Action

Last week, our Grade 6 Sustainability Leaders took part in a wonderful opportunity. Our leaders attended a morning at the Joy of the Earth Community Garden on Thursday, 14th March. Together with children from other local schools, our students were able to explore the garden and discussed the various environmental issues affecting our flora and fauna.

Possum nesting boxes had been created, with the assistance of different community groups. These were then creatively adorned by the artwork of our 4 leaders. Mrs K will be working with the children again in completing the box and perhaps creating a few more boxes to keep our possums safe at St Augustine's.

Safety First!

As you know, we always put the safety of our students first at St Augustine's. This includes ensuring that we know who is onsite and in the buildings during class times. If you need drop off your child/children after the bell, please stop at the office to check them in and a staff member can take them to class, if needed. If there is something that you need to deliver to your child/children during the school day, one of our lovely staff members in the office will be able to assist.

Also, a friendly reminder about gate opening times in the afternoons. The pedestrian and entry/exit gates open automatically at 2:55pm. Staff will be on duty at the end of the day from 3:15pm - 3:30pm. Again, for safety reasons, we do not open the gate prior to this time. If you need to collect your child early from school, please call ahead of time to let us know and when you get to the gate we will open it for you.

Thank you for working together with us to keep everyone at school safe.

Would you like to be a helper in our school?

At St A's, we really value any additional help from members in our wonderful community. There are a number of ways you can contribute by supporting the staff and children, such as: Athletics days, Interschool Sports, Mother's Day/Father's Day events, Cooking & Gardening sessions and so much more! If you are keen to join in, please make sure you have a current Working With Children Check
