Catholic Education Week Mass at St Patrick's Cathedral
On Friday the 15th of March, the school captains, faith leaders and SRC leaders went into the city for St Patrick's Day Mass.
First, we all met at Frankston Train Station and then got the train to Parliament Station where we then walked to St Patrick's Cathedral. We joined schools from all over Melbourne to attend Mass led by Archbishop Commensoli. After mass, we walked down to the Treasury Gardens for a concert and some games.
We had an extraordinary time!

Holy Week
This Sunday is Palm Sunday which begins Holy Week in the Catholic calendar. Holy Week is a special week during which we reflect on Lent and our faith before celebrating Easter. We can think about the sacrifices that Jesus Christ made for humans in the lead-up to celebrating Jesus' resurrection on Easter Sunday.
Stations of the Cross
This year, we will pray the Stations of the Cross as a school gathering together. Our service will be led by members of our Mini-Vinnies group. On Holy Thursday (28/3/24), staff and students will gather in the hall at 12:00 pm to begin the liturgy. We invite all members of our community to join us in observing this tradition.
On this day we will observe 14 of the 15 stations, leaving the last station - Jesus' resurrection for the first day back to school next term.
Project Compassion
This year, we shared with you the story of three inspiring women from across the globe, who overcame challenges to complete their education, access water and find secure employment. With the support of compassionate people like you, they are now forging a path to a better future for their families and their communities.
Ronita from the Philippines has now graduated high school and secured a job at a call centre. This job was only possible because of a certificate she gained from completing her studies.
Leaia and her family now have a water tank at their home in Samoa. She and her family now have a steady supply of clean drinking water. Next year, they will also have a toilet built, with the support of Caritas Samoa, which will further improve their health and living conditions.
Memory completed her vocational training course in carpentry and joinery. After completing a work contract at one of the largest electrical companies in Malawi, Memory now plans to return to her village and provide carpentry services to people in her community.
It’s through the generosity of people like you that we can continue to support people like Ronita, Leaia and Memory. There is still time to donate! Together, we can help vulnerable communities face their challenges today and build a better tomorrow, for all future generations.
If you can, please donate to Project Compassion by supporting our 'Coins for Caritas' fundraiser.
Sacraments
Next Tuesday, a group of students will be making their first reconciliation. We wish these students and their families well for this sacrament and keep them in our prayers.
Harmony Day Liturgy
As part of our Harmony Day celebrations last Thursday we held a liturgy led by our 3/4 students. Our SRC students also created a beautiful banner for our liturgical space.
Thank you to all who attended to celebrate the amazing diverse community we have!
