Camp Out

What a fantastic Camp Out we had on the oval. The weather was perfect, the food great and of course our families were awesome.  By all reports everyone had a fantastic time.  A big thank you to Eric and Michelle who coordinated the whole event and to those parents that assisted with the organisation - Libby, Ankur and Mel, and to those who eagerly jumped in and helped with the cooking and serving of food and the packing up. We raised around $3,500 to go towards our new Outdoor Yarning/Learning Circle. We look forward to our next Camp Out on the Oval in 2026.

Harmony Day - 21st March

Last Thursday all the students were engaged in several activities to celebrate Harmony Week. Mrs Fisher and the Student Representative Council (SRC) had been busy organising the activities for the day. It was wonderful to see so many students come in their national dress, while others dressed in something ‘orange.’ A wonderful celebration for a very special cause.

House Athletics (22nd March)

Last Friday was the House Athletics and what a marvellous celebration it was.  The weather was perfect. We saw all the students from Years 3 to 6 competing for their House. A highlight was the ‘House Chants’ - these are prepared before the day by each team and then performed at the end of the day. The enthusiasm and passion displayed by all teams was electric! This year the winning chant went to both Anyula and Arunta.  The successful house was Kunjen (Green). The students all showed great resilience and sportsmanship across the day. It was wonderful to see parents, grandparents and friends in attendance cheering our athletes along.  Thank you to all our wonderful parent helpers who helped on the day. I would like to make special mention of Mr Riley, for organising the event.

A huge thank you to the Parent’s Association who provided and distributed the icy poles for all the students.

Terrific Kids

On Monday we welcomed Mrs Anne Wilson from the Waverley Kiwanis to present the Terrific Kids Awards. Terrific Kids is a student recognition program, created by the Kiwanis Club, that promotes character development, self-esteem, and perseverance.

We are extremely grateful to the Kiwanis Club for enabling this award to be part of our student recognition program at Syndal South Primary School. Thank you, Anne, and the Waverley Kiwanis.

I would like to make special mention of Eric our outgoing president who has worked tirelessly over the past two years keeping the council optimistic, cheerful, and buoyant. Eric has been connected to Syndal South since February 2010 when Seb enrolled in Prep. Eric has been an active member of the school community and a wonderful advocate for the school. Eric has been involved in a wide range of school community activities in his dual role as a parent initially and then as the president of School Council. Eric has stepped in and assisted us on many occasions with maintenance and technical support.

Thank you, Eric, for your significant efforts over the past 14 years – they are very much appreciated! We are grateful that your connection with the school will be continuing with us with Michelle in the office.

Easter Raffle and Easter/Fancy Hat Parade

Thank you to all our families who have so kindly donated Easter eggs, chocolates, and Easter giftware for our Easter raffle. From all the wonderful donations 38 Easter hampers were made by a fabulous group of our talented mums on Monday afternoon. Thank you, the hampers look, amazing!

Over $1000 has been raised so far from the Easter Raffle which is truly remarkable.  The Easter raffle will be drawn at the assembly tomorrow following the Easter Hat Parade which starts at 9am. Students are to wear their school uniform with their Easter/fancy hat ready for the parade.

Car Parking

Just a reminder about parking in the streets around the school, that we need to abide by the signs, including not parking over our neighbours driveways or a fine may be enforced by the council.

Finally, it is hard to believe that we are at the end of Term 1 and what a very busy and productive term we have had. As this is the final newsletter for the term, I would like to thank all our students, staff, and parents for your support and valuable contributions throughout the term.

I want to wish everyone a very safe and enjoyable Easter/holiday break with your family and friends as we look forward to another exciting Term ahead.

The school will resume in Term 2 on Monday 15th April.
