What a fantastic day and afternoon we had on Wednesday! A heartfelt thank you goes out to our Cultural Team - Mr Adam Horne, Mrs Alisa Hardware, Ms Hilary Cheng, and Mrs Courtney Hoffmann - for their dedication and hard work in leading and coordinating the Harmony Day and afternoon festival. Along with the Cultural Team, another thank you to the invaluable support from several individuals who contributed to the creation of displays in the Gym. Special thanks to Mrs Michelle Davies (Wellbeing Dog), Mrs Robyn Harris (SWPBS), Mrs Karen Corralas (RR and RRRR), Ms Tia Beagley (Zones of Regulation and Circle Time), and the amazing artwork displays created by Mrs Jess Cole (Artwork Boards).
The gym looked wonderful I hope that everyone was able to read their child's class Acknowledgment of Country, which have been created with the students. The 'wishes' through the courtyard looked great and it was so great to see such a large turnout of families. I feel that over the day we were able to exemplify the spirit of unity and inclusivity at Karoo!
We have our first working bee for 2024 coming up this Sunday. Our Working Bees help keep down maintenance costs for our school grounds and are a great opportunity to come together as a whole school community. We appreciate any time that you can give to our school!
TURF UPDATE
We are still on track to be completed in the first week of Term 2 - the artificial turf arrived today ready to be rolled out
We deeply value the involvement of parents in our classroom reading activities and greatly appreciate their assistance. To ensure that parents are equipped to support their child's literacy development and contribute effectively to the broader school community, we offer ongoing learning opportunities.
As mentioned by Peta Phillips previously, we have a Parent Helper Reading Workshop scheduled for this coming Tuesday March 26th, at 2:45 pm. This session, which aligns with the one attended by our current Foundation families last year, aims to empower parents with the knowledge and skills needed to assist not only their child but also other students at school. We kindly request parents to attend this workshop every two years to stay updated.

We have had an amazing start to our fundraising!! At last check it was over $7,000. Our first competition finishes at midnight tonight - the class with the highest amount of students who have created a profile and started raising funds will win a prize! It doesn't matter how much the class has raised - just how many students are registered! Remember to send your child's link or QR code to family and friends so they can contribute too. So far the class in the lead is 1/2 C who have made a HUGE effort and nearly the WHOLE class is registered. Remember that ALL students who raise $60 will go in draw on the night for a Switch, a $100 Visa card or an EB games voucher.
On top of this, there are prizes for the top 10 individual fundraisers. They are:
1. Switch
2. Apple watch

Watch the thermometer in the gym go up each week until we reach our target!
Don't forget we have the F- 2 Easter Parade at 9:15am followed by the drawing of the Easter raffle. I hope you all have a lovely break and celebrate a successful first term for 2024. Be safe and enjoy time with family and friends!
