Ourschool Alumni Program Coordinator

The Alumni program is well and truly progressing at NGSC. This month I presented to the 

School Council, outlining the purpose of the program and showcased some of the events so far this year. I also presented an infographic which showed the increased engagement of alumni and soaring numbers of students reached, as well as our growing social media presence.

This month has seen three alumni attend events – Josh McInnes (2008) and Stephen Smilevski (2010) spoke with the Year 11 and 12 Software Development classes, and Tony Ortega (2005) gave a short address to the whole school at our Harmony Day assembly. We thank these people for giving up their time to assist our current students. 

I surveyed the students from the Software Development classes and these are some of their responses.

• I thought it was very interesting seeing what students who used to go to our school have gotten up to since graduating.
• I liked how they talked about their job and what they do, since both worked in a different field of IT.
• they mentioned being social and a good speaker is needed and anything that improves communication skills is necessary in studies and work.
