2024 Athletics Sports

How lucky we were that the weather forecast was inaccurate, and we were able to complete all events in reasonable conditions. The students' participation levels were up this year and in particular the girls' numbers rose significantly. The Be Bold, Be Heard program is working positively! Once again, the dress ups added to the enjoyment of the day. We had everything from Elvis to a Bride in full gown! Thank you to the staff that spend the whole day making the event as successful as possible.

The next level of competition will be in Term 2 against other schools in the Bellarine Division in Week 3 on Thursday, May 2. The school team will be posted in the gym foyer and on Compass.

Senior Boys Volleyball

On Friday March 23, the Senior Boys Volleyball team, primarily made up of Yr11 students, took to the courts in what was a very impressive display of skills and teamwork at Leisuretime Sports Precinct. The boys won both fixtured games against Bellarine and Geelong High and hence won their pool. They then moved on to the Semi-final and again, won gallantly against Grovedale, showing control in their game plan and fantastic digging, setting and spiking ability. We made the Grand Final and played our yearly competition, once again, in Northern Bay. They proved to be too strong for us as we went down 18-15 and 18-12 in the first and second set, respectively. The boys were upset but understand the expectations required to make it to the next round. They are to be congratulated on an amazing effort and i look forward to seeing them take that extra step in 2025.

Girls Volleyball

On Friday March 8, the Year 9/10 Girls Volleyball team participated in the Barwon Division Intermediate Volleyball Championships.

The team won their first matches against Matthew Flinders and Northern Bay 2 to progress to the final against Northern Bay 1.  After winning the first set, they narrowly lost the second set, taking it to a deciding third set.  The girls showed incredible teamwork and determination, winning the third set and the day!

Special mention goes to Jasmine Nguyen who was both team captain and coach for the day!

Well-done team on a fantastic day and best of luck for the next round!!
