Our parish is supporting the St Vincent de Paul Society’s Winter Appeal. Each year, the Winter Appeal plays a vital role in enabling the good works of the Society to assist those in need.
The St Mary’s Parish appeal is on Sunday 21 July. Envelopes are available at the Church and school for donation to this appeal. The theme for this year is “Working Homeless” and proceeds will enable the Society to ease the burdens of everyday expenses including utility bills, fuel or medical costs and other essentials for keeping a roof overhead.
Our Parish’s conference makes about 20 visits each week to people who have phoned the call centre for assistance. If you would feel able to assist it would be greatly appreciated. Please contact Cathy Ferrari or the parish office on 9287 5530.
Over the past six months, the Society has provided over $5 million in material assistance, including food, clothing, furniture and financial support, to families and households in need throughout Victoria. With the current homelessness crisis, the assistance provided for people experiencing hardship this Winter will be needed more than ever.
