Principal's Report

Heading Towards the End of Semester One

As we approach the end of Semester One, our college community is bustling with activity and preparation. This is a pivotal time for our students, especially for those in the senior school.

Our Year 11 students are currently undertaking their exams, demonstrating the knowledge and skills they have developed over the past months. Their dedication and hard work is admirable, and we wish them all the best in their exams. Next week, our Year 10 students will also embark on their examination period. This is an important milestone in their academic journey, and we are confident that they will rise to the challenge with the same commitment and determination.

In addition, all senior students undertaking Unit 3 studies will be completing the General Achievement Test (GAT) on Tuesday, 18 June. The GAT is a significant assessment that provides valuable data on student performance, contributing to their overall academic profile.

I am also delighted to extend our heartfelt congratulations to the Student Leadership Team for their incredible Student Leadership Conference held at MGC last week. The conference, centred around the theme of "Being Open to New Experiences," was a resounding success. The dedication, creativity, and enthusiasm of our student leaders was truly inspiring.

In other exciting news, preparation and planning is underway for the Language Tour to France in September. This is a wonderful opportunity for our language students to immerse themselves in French culture and language, and we are eagerly looking forward to this enriching experience.

Our Middle School Leadership Team is also working diligently to reimagine the seating design of the Crows Cafe (canteen). Their innovative ideas and collaborative efforts aim to create a more welcoming and comfortable space for all students across the college.

We are proud to announce that MGC will be hosting the Model United General Assembly on Wednesday, 26 June. This opportunity was made possible by the generous support of our MGC Parents' Association. We have invited the five other all-girls government schools to participate in this event, discussing the important theme: "Enough is Enough - Ending Violence Against Women." Students will become delegates to the United Nations for the day, simulate UN committees, and learn about diplomacy, international relations, current world issues, and the UN itself. This promises to be a valuable and inspiring experience for all involved.

I encourage all students and parents and carers to take the time at the end of the term to sit down together to review and reflect on the success of the semester when reports are released.  This reflection and goal-setting can be an invaluable step in ensuring continued growth and achievement.

Finally, as part of our ongoing efforts to improve communication and keep our college community informed about the latest news and events, we are reviewing our newsletter format and content.  Your feedback is invaluable to us. We want to ensure that the newsletter meets your needs and preferences, providing you with relevant and useful information in the most effective way possible. Over the next week, we will be asking parents and carers to share your thoughts and suggestions.

Thank you for your time and continued support.
