Dear Parents/Carers,
At Our Lady Help of Christians (OLHC), the importance of building connections within our school community cannot be overstated. A thriving school community fosters a sense of belonging, support, and shared purpose, significantly enhancing the educational experience for our students. This term, we have made considerable efforts to strengthen these bonds, both within OLHC and with external organisations in Eltham.
Our recent Trivia Night brought together many of our families for an evening of fun and camaraderie. The theme of Aussie Icons saw many attendees dress up, adding to the lively atmosphere filled with laughter and friendly competition. The event, impeccably organised by the Parents and Friends of OLHC (PFOL), underscored the strength of our community spirit. Their meticulous planning ensured everything ran smoothly. This successful night truly highlighted the vibrant and supportive nature of our OLHC community, showcasing the joy of coming together and celebrating our connections.
Our Movie Night saw more than 65% of our students in attendance, further highlighting the enthusiasm and engagement of our families. The children were treated to plenty of popcorn and juice, generously provided by the PFOL. Friends sat together on bean bags and pillows, dressed in their cosy pyjamas, creating a relaxed and fun atmosphere. Many lollies were shared among friends, adding to the sense of camaraderie and joy. It was truly a special night that brought our community closer together, reinforcing the bonds of friendship and making lasting memories.
On Wednesday morning, Foundation and Year 1 students dressed up as characters from our Little Learners Love Literacy program to celebrate Milo’s Birthday. The students' excitement was palpable as they entered the building, greeted by festive decorations and balloons set up for the big party. In the morning, students and their parents came together to create a birthday cake for Milo. It was fantastic to have this opportunity to celebrate with families, fostering a sense of community and shared joy.
Beyond our internal events, OLHC is committed to extending our community connections through partnerships with local organisations. Working with groups like St. Vincent de Paul provides our students with invaluable opportunities to engage in social justice activities. These experiences are integral to our Religious Education curriculum, embodying the mission of Christ to help and serve those in need. I extend my heartfelt thanks to all families for their generous donations to the Winter Appeal, which significantly support those less fortunate in our community.
By fostering strong connections within OLHC and with the wider Eltham community, we ensure that our students not only excel academically but also grow into compassionate, socially responsible individuals. Together, we can continue to build a vibrant, inclusive, and supportive community where every member feels valued and connected.
Kind regards
