Trade and Tech Fit Career Expo
On the Wednesday the 8th of May all female secondary students went to the Trade and Tech Fit Career Expo in Melbourne. An early start for most with a 7:30 am pick in Wedderburn then an 8 o’clock pick up from Inglewood. Once every student was on the bus the long journey began. Most decided to sleep for the first part of the journey (was the quietest part of the bus trip for the whole day). Once in Marong we collected the other female staff and have a quick toilet stop, this ended up as a very long line of Wedderburn girls.
When everyone had finally gone to the toilet and all the staff had purchased a nice hot coffee, the group was off again. This was when the noise started. Many of us found ways to entertain ourselves, such as a game of Uno. When we finally got into the city the nerves started to kick in.
On arrival we were issued with bright yellow lanyards that had Wedderburn College on them and a tote bag with some free gifts and a booklet. Once inside it was free for all and many of us split into groups. Many of us walked around finding stalls that interested us and gave us free gifts and lollies. Most went walking around trying out different activities and talking to some amazing people. Many of us realized that many of these career paths have many, many opportunities and aren’t what we thought they would be.
By 11 am to 12 pm most of us were getting tired and had decided to sit down outside but then soon were brought back inside due to a lost lanyard. Once inside we decided to buy some overpriced food, but because of these prices a few of us headed out with Miss Milne and Mrs Woodman to get some cheap food and drink. On the walk back we had found most of the group were outside because many of us were tired.
After some trading of free gifts and waiting for Robyn, the bus had finally come, and we began the journey home. With many of us tired from the day, Mrs Woodman warned us about the noise level and we had a somewhat peaceful journey home till someone had grabbed out a speaker and was playing music. After a bit of our trip we had made a quick food stop at a Maccas where many of us bought meals and drinks. We had to eat at Maccas because the driver did not want to leave the bus a mess. Once all the food was eaten we were on our way home. On the drive home we made a stop in Marong again to say goodbye to Miss Milne, Miss Graham and Mrs Barker. Then the rest of the trip went well with dropping off the Inglewood students in Inglewood and then finishing in Wedderburn.
All of us would like to thank Mrs Woodman for the amazing trip and we all went home wanting to go back again. We would also like to thank the female staff who came with us on this amazing journey, Miss Milne, Mrs Barker, Miss Graham, and Robyn. Thank you all.
