Welcome to Winter

As we move into Winter, please ensure your child is appropriately dressed for the colder days. Where possible, we try to give students time outside at recess and lunch each day, which might mean additional layers of clothing are needed to keep warm.

While we encourage those extra pieces of clothing for outdoors, please remind students that outer wear such as beanies and jackets must be taken off when in classrooms. For this reason, we encourage families to name all clothing belongings.

Thank you to families for supporting our focus on wearing the correct school attire during the colder months of the year.

2023 Annual Report to the School Community (as shared in the last newsletter)

The Annual Report to the School Community provides principals and school councils with an opportunity to share the year’s achievements and progress with the school community. This includes reflecting on the school’s performance and explaining the positive impact of school improvement efforts on student outcomes.

Our 2023 Annual Reporting Community Meeting will be held at 5:30pm on Thursday 20th June. If you would like to attend this meeting, please register your interest via this link. More information regarding the location of the meeting will be shared closer to the date.

Student drop off and pick up at the Molesworth Street Campus

We would like to again remind parents about the student drop off and pick up procedures at our Molesworth Street Campus. We understand this is a busy time, however if all families follow the below parking procedures, we can ensure all our students arrive and leave school safely.

Please use the Kiss and Drop zones as they are intended to be used. This is a NO PARKING zone at drop off and pick up times. No parking indicates you must stay with your car. The 2-minute zone indicates the maximum amount of time you can wait in the Kiss and Drop zone. When a spot becomes available, please move forward if it is safe to do so.
2 hour parking along the school boundary on Molesworth street is only permitted between 9:30am – 3pm.
Please be respectful of our Molesworth Street neighbours and do not block laneway access when you park for pick-up and drop off. These laneways provide the only access to some houses and apartments.
Please do not stop in the middle of the road to get your child out of the car.
Please avoid parking in the disability carpark unless you have the appropriate permit.

Staffing Update

We are excited to welcome Jo Maddox to our NMPS staffing team. Jo is a speech pathologist who will be working part time at NMPS across both campuses. We look forward to working with Jo, who will join our Wellbeing team. Please see below for more information about Jo.

A little bit about Jo...

Joanna Maddox graduated from the Masters of Speech Pathology in 2010 and has worked in various educational settings, including as a Key Worker and Speech Pathologist in Early Childhood Intervention, at a special school, and most recently in her own private practice where she collaborates closely with schools and early childhood educators. She adopts a strength-based and neuro-affirming approach, firmly believing that all children learn best when they feel safe, secure, and supported. Jo’s passion lies in empowering children and their families, ensuring that each child reaches their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive environment. Outside of work, Jo enjoys spending her time with her two spirited children, studying psychology, and Zumba dancing.

Baby News

Congratulations to Gabi who has started her family leave a little earlier than expected with the safe arrival of Baby Henry. Both Gabi and Henry are doing well and enjoying lots of snuggles.

We can’t wait to meet Baby Henry!

Student and staff Illness

As shared in the last newsletter, COVID 19 and the flu is currently prevalent across our school community. We ask that if your child is displaying flu or COVID 19 symptoms, they are kept at home in an effort to minimise the spread of infection.

King’s Birthday Public Holiday

Just a reminder that Monday 10th June is the King’s Birthday Public Holiday. There will be no school on Monday.
