St Luke's... "nurturing faith filled, curious children to become creative contributors and innovative problem solvers for a changing world."
Dear Families,
Next week, all 7–10 parents will receive copies of their children’s reports.
These reports provide a valuable snapshot of your child's progress and achievements throughout the semester. However, it is important to remember that formal semester reports are just one aspect of our comprehensive approach to reporting student progress.
At St Luke’s, we believe in fostering a strong partnership between parents, students, and teachers. We understand that a complete understanding of your child's educational journey requires multiple perspectives. With this in mind, we employ four elements of reporting to parents that ensure a well-rounded assessment of your child's growth and development.
• Student-Led Conferences/Interviews: Student-led conferences are an integral part of our reporting process. These conferences provide an opportunity for your child to reflect upon their accomplishments, set goals, and engage in a meaningful conversation with you about their academic journey. By actively involving students in the reporting process, we empower them to take ownership of their learning and develop essential communication skills.
• Online Dashboard: Our online dashboard offers a comprehensive view of your child's progress and growth over time. This platform allows you to access real-time information about your child's academic performance, attendance records, and social-emotional development. The dashboard serves as a valuable tool for tracking your child's overall progress and identifying areas of strength and improvement.
• Student Work: Regular access to your child's work is essential in understanding their learning process. For students in grades K-6, we utilize Seesaw as a platform for sharing student work samples, projects, and assignments. For students in grades 7-12, Canvas serves as the hub for accessing and submitting assignments, viewing progress, and engaging in interactive learning materials. These platforms enable you to explore your child's work and gain insight into their efforts and achievements.
• Formal Semester Reports: The formal semester reports serve as a summary of your child's progress against stage-based outcomes. These reports provide an overview of your child's performance in various subject areas against a five point scale. While the semester reports are an important component, we encourage you to consider them in conjunction with the other elements of our reporting process for a complete understanding of your child's educational journey which provide a more thorough view of your child’s work.
We believe that by employing these four elements of reporting, we can provide you with a holistic view of your child's progress and achievements. Our goal is to facilitate open communication and collaboration between parents, students, and teachers, ensuring the best possible educational experience for your child.
I look forward to meeting more parents at our upcoming student led conferences for K-10 which will be hosted at the school on Thursday afternoon/evening 4 July and Friday 5 July.
Kind regards
Kelly Bauer
