PBL - Positive Behaviour For Learning

Last Semester, the PBL team and our teachers did a lot of groundwork behind the scenes to prepare for PBL, and on Monday, we officially launched PBL with our students.

Each Monday from 9:00 - 9:30 am every class in the school will participate in a PBL lesson which links with the SEL (Social Emotional Learning) curriculum. Students will be explicitly taught a lesson that connects to one of the school values of:

The important details from this week's lesson are:

  • By being aware of our PBL Values, all students, staff, and visitors have a shared understanding.
  • By knowing our PBL values there are clear behavioural expectations for all students, staff and visitors.
  • Respect, Responsibility, Resilience and Safety help us to build a positive school culture and increase learning outcomes for all students.

Dojo Points

You may have heard your child talk about earning Dojo points for rewards at school. Students will be acknowledged by staff in the classroom and on the yard when they correctly and consistently show the behaviour expectation taught and will receive Dojo points to trade for a selected reward each Friday for rewards ranging in value from 10 - 50 points.

At each school assembly, a PBL raffle will be drawn. All students who received Dojo points over that fortnight will be entered into a pool; the lucky winner will receive a certificate and will be able to wear casual clothes to school the next day.

St Peter's PBL Matrix:

It would be great if you could check in with your child and ask them about the weekly PBL lesson and what the behaviour expectation is. You could also discuss ways that they can live out that behaviour expectation and give examples of what it looks like to help create a more positive and engaging learning environment for them and all other students and people who belong to the St Peter’s community.
