 Assistant Principal

Ms. Julie Ryan 9 & 10

As we move further into Term 4, there’s a lot happening across the Middle School, and I want to take a moment to acknowledge both the great things taking place and to provide few reminders to help our students finish the year well.

Uniform Expectations

We are seeing several students who are not following the Lalor Secondary College Dress Code correctly. This includes wearing nail polish, two-tone or brightly coloured hair, and other non-uniform items.

All families are provided with a copy of the Dress Code upon enrolment, and adherence to it is a requirement of attending the college. Our expectations are clear and have been well established and consistently communicated throughout the year.

If your family is experiencing hardship, please reach out — we can and will support you. However, please do not be surprised if your child is asked to remove nail polish or hair colour, or if we confiscate non-uniform items. These actions are in line with college policy and are intended to ensure fairness and consistency for all students.

Advance Camp

Our Advance Camp students returned on Friday afternoon looking exhausted but very happy! Reports from their teachers were glowing — they represented the college exceptionally well and demonstrated maturity, teamwork, and resilience throughout the camp. They should all be proud of their efforts. Congratulations to all involved in what has been a wonderful 2025 Advance program.

Year 9 and 10 Exams

This week marks the final week of Year 10 classes before their exams commence in Week 7. Year 9 exams will take place the following week, in Week 8. Students are revising the core work from Semester 2, preparing for assessments, and reflecting on their learning progress.

Learning does not slow down at the end of the year, and we expect students to continue striving for their best — engaging in revision, completing exams with focus and pride, and making the most of the feedback they receive to strengthen their learning. We encourage all students to attend every day, stay organised, and remain ready to learn right through to the final day of term.

Thank you to all families for your continued support throughout this busy term. The commitment shown by students, staff, and carers in helping our young people finish the year successfully is greatly appreciated. Let’s keep the momentum going as we approach the final weeks of 2025.
