Primary School News
Mr Michael Connolly, Head of Primary School
At the last two College Assemblies all students have watched the first two parts of a three-part series designed to raise awareness around harassment of others. The final episode will be viewed tomorrow at our final assembly for the year.
Here in the Primary School, we strive to be a community where every boy is valued, respected, and encouraged to grow into the best version of himself. Central to this vision is the understanding that harassment of any kind based on differences of any kind, has no place in our school. I took some time to share these messages with the boys at our Monday morning assembly and challenged them all to call out behaviour of this kind if they see it happening. It is vital that harassment of any kind is brought to the attention of a trusted adult and I would call on the support of all parents in reinforcing this message at home with their sons.
Harassment undermines the dignity of others and contradicts the very heart of our Marist values. We are called to live with compassion, humility, and respect, following the example of Mary, who showed quiet strength and unconditional care for all. To live In the Way of Mary is to welcome others, to stand alongside them, and to ensure that no one feels excluded or diminished.
The Marist Characteristic of Family Spirit reminds us that our school is more than just classrooms and playgrounds, it is a family. In a family, differences are not reasons for division, but opportunities for understanding and growth. Every boy deserves to feel safe, supported, and celebrated for who he is.
As we continue through this very busy part of the term, we all have to be mindful of our words and actions. Let us choose kindness over criticism, encouragement over exclusion, and respect over ridicule. By doing so, we not only strengthen our community but also prepare all of our boys to be men of integrity, compassion, and faith.
Harassment does not belong in our Primary School. What does belong is friendship, respect, and the courage to stand up for what is right so that every boy knows he belongs, as part of our Marist family.
Have a wonderful Week 6.

Last week we farewelled Lauren Beck from the Primary School. Anyone who has visited our Primary reception on a Monday or Tuesday this year will have experienced Lauren’s friendly smile and warm welcome. We thank Lauren for her presence in our Primary School, and we look forward to seeing her as a Marist parent during the years to come.

There has been a recent increase in the use of the Marist name and sporting apparel in non-sanctioned competitions, such as club or social events. Please note that only teams and competitions formally approved by the College are permitted to use the Marist name, uniform, or branding. This requirement ensures appropriate supervision, insurance coverage, student safety, and adherence to College standards.
Any group wishing to participate in external events must seek prior approval in writing from the Head of Sport. The College will review the suitability of such events and, where appropriate, coordinate official entries to maintain quality, consistency, and compliance with our codes of conduct. We appreciate the enthusiasm of our community in supporting student opportunities and ask that all follow the correct process to protect the integrity and reputation of Marist College.
