Celebrating Our Paraprofessionals

This week, we want to take a moment to acknowledge the incredible work our paraprofessionals do each and every day. They play a vital role in supporting our students’ learning, wellbeing, and engagement across classrooms. From providing one-on-one assistance and small group support, to helping create inclusive and positive learning environments, our paraprofessionals make a real difference. Their dedication, care, and teamwork are an important part of what makes our school such a special place. We are so grateful for all that they do!

Sound Scouts Hearing Screeners

Our Early Stage One students have completed the hearing screener process with Mrs Phelps earlier this term.

The Sound Scouts hearing screener is a game-based mobile app that tests hearing in children and adults, developed in Australia by the National Acoustic Laboratories and an Australian company. It uses interactive games on a tablet to screen for conductive hearing loss, sensorineural hearing loss, and auditory processing issues, providing immediate results and a referral pathway if problems are detected. Any hearing concerns that are held by Mrs Phelps after these screeners have been communicated to parents.

Transition

This term so far has been all about transition. Transition to Kindergarten and transition to Year 7!

Our very young learners have been joining us on Fridays and have been experiencing some school readiness activities with Mrs Grills. Children have been learning to recognise and write their name using a number of tools, have been learning to listen in their own learning space and have experienced learning at a desk on a chair. There are some nerves mixed with lots of excitement.

Our transition to kindergarten program offers significant benefits for children, including

improved cognitive, social, and emotional development through play-based learning. It helps children develop school readiness by building literacy and numeracy skills, and it fosters independence and a positive attitude toward learning.

In the meantime, the year 6 students have been travelling away to their new 2026 schools in various locations to experience what their new learning facility will be like. The benefits of transitioning from Year 6 to Year 7 include enhanced social-emotional skills and personal development through increased independence and responsibility. Students are exposed to a broader curriculum, new teaching styles, and opportunities to build new friendships, which can lead to increased motivation, resilience, and a stronger sense of self.

Semester 2 Reports

At the end of Week 9, Term 4, you will be receiving your child's end of year School Report. Please note that in Term 4 we do not hold formal interviews with parents, however if you would like to discuss anything in relation to your child's academic progress please contact the front office at any time to book a meeting with your child's classroom educator.
