Over the past 3 weeks, we have been enjoying a modified PMP program with our Foundation students.

We have been throwing and catching, jumping, balancing, skateboarding and climbing all whilst reflecting on the different body parts we use to be active.

From developing core strength, coordination, gross motor skills and hand eye coordination, along with sharing and taking turns, resilience, determination and patience, we have had lots of fun and built confidence in our bodies.

It was also great to have some Level 5 leaders helping us with setting up, leading and packing up.

Also over the last few weeks we have been focusing on teamwork with a number of hoop challenges, ‘lava’ crossings and finishing with a massive double station ‘river’ crossing. Teams of 5-7 have had to work together with resources including blue gym mats, hoops, skipping ropes, foam balancing boards and skateboards to safely work their way through different active challenges.

We learnt that communication is about both talking and listening and that for a team to succeed we need lots of different people and strengths such as helpers, ideas people, encouragers, leaders, and some people to make sure the rules are followed.

Level 4

Last term, our Level 4 students learnt about healthy bodies and the importance of healthy habits including regular exercise.

As part of the unit they developed their own 7-10 minute exercise program which were finalised this term. From choosing exercises to filming and then editing their video, the Level 4’s now have a range of short exercise videos they can use in class as brain breaks or at home to be active and maintain fitness.

Here’s a couple of the best examples.

The Regional competition is a huge step up from our Division Competition and all students performed extremely well against some tough competition.

A huge congratulations to the students above for their efforts and representing the school so well.

Special congratulations to Isabella A and Maggie K who placed 1st in their selected events and now progresses through to the State Competition next Thursday 6 November.

This is a tremendous achievement for both girls, and we wish them all the best.
