Senior School

你 好 (ni hao)
It’s been so great to be back together and to complete our first full week at school!! The classrooms have felt calm, busy, and happy as students settled back into routines, reconnected with friends, and eased back into learning. It’s been a great start to the term.
What’s going on in the Leadership Centre?
In English, students have been revising some important spelling rules, focusing on the 1-1-1 and 2-1-1 doubling rules when adding vowel suffixes. They’ve been practising how and when letters double, and applying these strategies in their writing.
In Maths, our focus has been on place value, particularly using powers of 10 to represent numbers. Students explored how numbers change when we multiply or divide by 10.
In Guided Inquiry, students explored the five main biomes through a fun mystery-detective style activity. They investigated hands-on biome models and used fact files as clues to identify each biome, building their understanding of what makes each one unique. This sparked lots of curiosity, discussion, and great questioning as students worked together to solve the mysteries.
During Wellbeing, we spent time talking about how mistakes are a natural and valuable part of learning, and how they can lead us in new and creative directions. Students explored the ideas of what our inner coach and inner critic might say to us during different scenarios, reflected on our school value of life-long learning, and worked together to co-construct classroom expectations that help everyone feel safe, supported, and ready to learn.
It’s been a positive and productive start to the term, and we’re really looking forward to everything that’s ahead!
Warm regards,
The Senior Team
Nick, Julia, Amanda, Gabby, Miss
