Assistant Principal's Message

Learning and Wellbeing @ MPRPS
At MPRPS, we believe that learning and wellbeing go hand in hand. When students feel safe, connected and confident, they are more ready to engage, take risks and achieve success in their learning.
This year, we are continuing to focus on creating calm, predictable and supportive learning environments across the school. Clear routines, strong relationships and consistent expectations help students feel secure and allow them to focus their energy on learning. We have already seen the positive impact of our new Start Up program in helping students settle quickly and begin learning successfully each day.
You may hear your child talk about classroom routines, self-regulation strategies or familiar phrases such as “park it”, “chin it” or “bin it” (one of our whiteboard routines). These approaches help create clear and predictable learning environments so students can focus their energy on their learning.
Teachers are also using previous assessment information, along with ongoing classroom assessments, to identify where each student is in their learning. This allows teachers to plan and adapt lessons to meet the needs of all students and support them to make progress.
Throughout the year, this section of the newsletter will share information, tips and insights into how we support student learning and wellbeing at MPRPS, as well as ways families can support this at home. We look forward to working in partnership with you to support every student to thrive.
