Visual Arts

As we reflect on a busy Term 1, it's evident that creativity knows no bounds within our students. From captivating exhibitions to amazing artworks, our students and faculty have embraced every opportunity to explore, experiment, and express themselves through the vibrant world of visual arts.

Art Club

Art Club has started up again this year and the students have already made new friendships through artmaking activities. Art club plays a vital role in nurturing creativity and personal growth among students. This term, students have been busily working in the background for Elderslie High School ‘Mary Poppins’ Musical. Through lots of singing, laughter and painting, the students have been designing and painting the canvas for the ‘Mary Poppins’ Musical. Once they have completed the canvas, they will start creating the sets needed for our school musical. Watch this space for more exciting artworks and projects to come from our talented students.

The Camden Show

For the first time this year, Elderslie Year 10 Art students have participated in The Camden Show by entering their artworks in the competition to be judged by the judges at Camden Show. We had a range of wonderful artworks on display in the pavilion such as portraits, ceramic masks, paintings, sculptures, and architectural paintings. It is a delight to announce 3 of our participating students won in different categories.

Cybella M – Second Ribbon in Painting in Animal Study.

Hope T – Stewards Award Favourite Frame Drawing.

Congratulations to all of the following students, Verity W, Amelia H, Cybella M, Lucy E, Ruby E, and Hope T for your amazing efforts and representing Elderslie High School.

Year 7 Visual Arts

Year 7 has settled in well this term in our Visual Art lessons, and have been focusing on ‘Portraits’. The students have been learning about how to create a realistic portrait of a celebrity or person of inspiration. Through various artmaking activities, the students have been learning about the elements of art and how they can incorporate them into their artworks. As an informal assessment, Year 7 students have created some amazing ‘School House’ posters. The students have been able to use their creative skills in designing their poster and have each of the students have created their own unique artwork.

Year 10 Elective Visual Art

During Term 1, Year 10 Visual Art students have been focusing on the topic ‘Still Life’. Throughout the term, the students have been learning about famous Still Life artists Paul Cezanne and Margaret Olley. The students have learned how each artist incorporates the Structural Frame into their artworks and have practiced different drawing techniques in designing a Still Life composition. The students have worked very hard on their artwork and have designed fantastic Still Life artworks.
